Beyoncé's planned concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has been canned amid protests by local Muslim groups, Billboard reports. The groups are reportedly upset that the singer has refused to obey the country's strict dress code for performers, although the November 1 concert's promoter, Pineapple Concert, did not give a reason for the cancellation in a statement issued Friday (September 28). Female performers are not allowed to show skin from the tops of their chests to their knees. In August, Gwen Stefani's concert in the country was also preceded by protests for the same reason — but she reluctantly abided by the guidelines, saying in a press conference before the show that she had made a "major sacrifice." ... Here's the low-low, Chris Brown told Vibe that J. Holiday's hit "Bed" was his and that his camp was 'assholes' because though he offered $100,000 for the song, he wasn't given the song [basically because he isn't credible as an 18 year old singing it]. Chris also threw out a comment on 106 & Park but to that, the song's writer and newest Def Jam artist, The-Dream tells Billboard.com:
"The track was considered for Chris Brown -- he thought it was his -- but it was my record and I decided to give it up to J. Holiday," explains The-Dream. "Chris said the record won't be No. 1 unless he's on it. I bet someone $500,000 that it would go to No. 1 and I collected my money just last week."
He goes on to say that this little rift could end with The-Dream refusing to work with the young lad...even offering to give back money already paid for a song.

His debut album, Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter will be released December 11. Until then check out his second single Falsetto and look out for other songs to hit the airwaves that he's written, such as J. Holiday's "Suffocate," Nicole Scherzinger's "Power's Out" and Celine Dion's "Skies of L.A." [which I've heard and is one of the most beautiful songs!]

The season premiere of SNL was hosted by LeBron James and the musical guest was Kanye West. 'Ye did a skit making fun of himself... "My album went gold in a day! Fam..." that was the biggest chuckle...chuckle being the operative word! SNL just isn't cutting it on the laugh factor. Outside of Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler, I really don't care for the cast.

Mychal Bell has been released on bail after the DA has agreed to not appeal the appellate courts decision to over turn his original conviction and move the case to juvenile court...a small victory in a long war against injustice!
Mychal Bell's release on $45,000 bail came hours after a prosecutor confirmed he will no longer seek an adult trial for the 17-year-old. Bell, one of the teenagers known as the Jena Six, still faces trial as a juvenile in the December beating in this small central Louisiana town.

"We still have mountains to climb, but at least this is closer to an even playing field," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who helped organize last week's protest.

"He goes home because a lot of people left their home and stood up for him," Sharpton said. [SOURCE]

Of course, the DA is a complete and utter idiot and goes on to say that it was God that allowed the 25-plus thousand protesters to march peacefully...Ignorance is Bliss!

Rarely do I review albums because one, I'm just that lazy and two, I rarely love an entire album enough to listen to like that...but this here Back of my 'Lac by R&B newbie J. Holiday is very much worth my time! Have you noticed the numerous posts about this cat? Yeah, I am definitely feeling the young man.

His debut album is a collection of R&B goodness that touches the ladies and the fellas, which is not always an easy feat for singers. From the personal title track, "Back of my Lac" to the sexy "Suffocate," he easily blends realness with smoothness. Keeping it fresh with odes the mary jane in "Laa Laa" [Platinum Brothers] and the streets with "Ghetto." The only criticism I have is that some of the lyrics are a bit simple and uncreative, like with "Pimp in Me" which I love the song, especially the chorus, he kills me with "Body like a call girl/Mind of a teacher." However he more than makes up for it with songs like "Fatal" [Underdogs] that has be swooning...And don't be surprised to hear a MF-er or N*gga mixed in there, this is not for your Chris Brown crowd!

What makes him different from other crooners that claim to be bringing back R&B? Well, homie can sing. I mean her can really sing and not that over the top lead in the AME choir sanging, I mean he can simply and effortlessly sing. The only complaint is that he only has 14 songs on the album [which is good, most album are skimpy as hell with 10 tracks], and he so many left over songs from the previous version that wasn't released, like the cover of Average White band's "A Love of Your Own." If you had a chance to listen to the Chocolate City Mixtape, you know that he has a talent to sing any song about anything and make it sound hot!

So just to wet your appetite, check out some of the tracks from the album...

In a sad turn of events, the body of Nailah Franklin was found near her abandoned car after being reported missing a week ago, says her Uncle. Family became concerned when she sent a vague text message to family and friends saying that she was eating dinner and would call later.

Calumet City Police Chief Russell Larson confirmed only that an unidentified woman’s body had been found in the area Thursday morning. But Nailah Franklin’s uncle Jon Merrill and family friend Andrew Holms said authorities had told the family the body is that of his 28-year-old niece.

Franklin was reported missing Sept. 19 after she missed a meeting with her boss at Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly. Her car was discovered in Hammond, Ind., on Friday night near an abandoned building.

Shortly before she disappeared, Franklin had filed a police report about getting threatening phone calls from a man she had dated briefly. Chicago police said Monday they had interviewed someone Franklin once dated but have not named a suspect in her disappearance. [READ MORE]

Last night when a read an "article" that Yung Joc was in brawl in London were his infamous "H" chain was snatch, I knew something was off. It went on to say that T-Pain jumped in to try to "save the chain" LOL! Anyhow...it's not true, he simply gave it to his manager to hold because he could tell it might be going dooownnn!:
The Atlanta native said he and Pain did indeed have to defend themselves in London — they were in town to perform at the MOBO Awards — but they came out unharmed and with all their belongings intact. The commotion happened shortly after midnight, when Joc was bringing in his birthday at U.K. club Crystal Club on Thursday.
But it does gets interesting, because T-Pain was trying to holla at a random chick when some dude flipped on T-Pain and started a fight!
"It was my birthday, so we was poppin' bottles," he continued. "We was bottle-poppin' major. Pain was talking to this chick and this big football-player-looking dude came up. He was big as hell. ... The dude grabbed her arm and she was like, 'I'm not leaving,' and [moves] away from the dude. ... The next thing you know, the dude started talking sh-- to Pain. The dude poured his wine out and ... I looked back at my security [guard], gave him my chain. He put it in my case and handed it to Rico. The dude hit T-Pain's partner in the head with a glass in his hand." [SOURCE]

Note to Karrine "Superhead" Steffans: Keep up with your own damn lies!

Superhead, as she will always be called, had the nerve to get flip with the DJs of Detroit's WJLB when introduced as "Superhead" telling them she didn't "appreciate" being called that! How laughable is it that she gets offended by the name she claimed to have given herself...Even went on say that she never really liked the moniker and can't understand why people would celebrate something like that...like wearing a shirt with the "superhead" logo maybe?!

But don't believe the hype, peep the below interview...but beyond that I vividly remember her saying that she was taking the name and embracing it and starting a clothing line with it so that she reclaim the meaning...B*tch please, spare me!

Lil 'Kim and Mary J. Blige at Biggie's funeral | The SUV Biggie was riding in

Just typing the title of this post made me think about how sad it is that B.I.G. [as well as Tupac] died over such ignorance. The climate of violence from music at that time still baffles me...

At any rate, a current inmate is now saying that he lied about Biggie's murder when he implicated L.A. police and about the officer's involvement.
Waymond Anderson, a former R&B artist now serving a life sentence for murder in a separate case, said in an Aug. 20 deposition that he lied as part of a scam to win a monetary settlement from the city.

Anderson's deposition, first reported Wednesday in the Los Angeles Times, states that he was offered a portion of any settlement if he testified that former police Officer Rafael Perez told him that another ex-police officer, David Mack, was involved.

Both Mack and Perez have long denied any involvement in the March 9, 1997, murder of the New York rapper, also known as Biggie Smalls.

"I don't know David Mack, I don't know Rafael Perez," Anderson said in the deposition. "It was a lie, and I'm ashamed of it." [READ MORE]

You may know him as Lem Van Adams of the Showtime hit series "Soul Food" or remember those infomercials touting the latest dances from the biggest pop artist around, but I had a chance to chop it up with one of Black Hollywood's hottest heartthrobs, Darrin Henson about what's going on now. From award winning choreographer to leading man on the stage and silver screen Darrin Dewitt Henson has transitioned successfully while sticking to his dancing roots. With his grand aspirations he is sure to be around a long time, and with a smile like his, we can all be happy with that!

Check out what he had to say about his latest projects, what's to come next, and where he's headed.

Melody: Tell me about your new project April Fools.

Darrin: Well, it’s a movie I did two years ago that’s out on DVD now. Directed and written and produced but Nancy Norman. It’s in the same vain as “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” I play a young detective who is a partner to Obba Bomatunde’s character and his daughter has witnessed a murder that seems to have come back to haunt her.

Melody: How did you get involved with the project?

Darrin: Nancy Norman actually called me. I’d met her through someone else and she told me that she really liked my work and she was doing this movie and wanted to know if I would be interested in doing the movie. She’s a really nice lady and she’s worked with Treach [of Naughty by Nature] who’s a friend of mine, so I said sure why not. I’d never done anything like that or played a detective, so I thought it would be fun.

Melody: Okay, expanding your repertoire. Now some may recognize you as the dancer/choreographer, or some may know you as Lem [of Soul Food] or from "Stomp the Yard", so which came first, acting or dancing?

Darrin: Dancing, dancing definitely came first.

Melody: So how did you transition into acting?

Darrin: I just made the choice to do that. I’d spent a lot of years dancing and choreographing and wanting to evolve I chose to go into acting. I started going on acting auditions as opposed to dancing auditions.

Melody: Are you still dancing and choreographing?

Darrin: Absolutely, I just released a DVD, “Darrin’s Dance Grooves Part 2” and you can find that on my website DarrinHenson.com. I still teach classes, I just taught a class here in L.A. this weekend. Most of the time people go to my website to see what I’m doing and where I’m teaching but I am definitely still heavily involved in choreographing.

Melody: I must admit that I do own Darrin’s Dance Grooves Part 1…

Darrin: Ah, thank you! We have a following clothing line right now, it’s a whole lot of fun. It’s called Henson, the logo is real vibrant, and the clothes are really fun as well. A lot if ladies gear, hoodies, and tops. For working out, you know. We designed as line that is definitely for the mature woman who likes to exercise.

Melody: Okay, a line activewear, that really falls into your area of expertise. So can they find out more information about that on your website?

Darrin: Absolutely.

Melody: So what are some other projects that you have outside of the DVDs?

Darrin: I just finished filming a movie, The Express, with Dennis Quaid, myself, Charles Dutton, and Rob Brown and that is due out October of 2008. It’s a football film, and I play Jim Brown. So I am excited about that. I am also on a 5 episode arc right now on the ABC Family show Lincoln Heights which comes on Tuesdays at 8.

Melody: Are you focusing on more films or television?

Darrin: Um, both. You know I dance on the weekends, so that’s taken care of. As long as I am acting, it doesn’t matter if its film or television.

Melody: So where you do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years?

Darrin: What I would have liked to do is, win an Oscar, an [NAACP] Image Award, I would like to win an Emmy by then. I would like to open a school for children who have reading and writing problems, to help them with their artistic side meaning singing, dancing, rapping, what have you while they work on their curriculum in school. I would like to participate in the movement to heal Africa and just be a person who is consistently growing. Though I don’t believe in a destination, it’s all a process.

Melody: So a little background on you, where are you from and where did you grow up?

Darrin: I’m from New York and I grew up in the Bronx.

Melody: Okay, my mother’s from the Bronx.

Darrin: Good woman.

Melody: That she is. [Side Note: He recognized my Louisiana accent, which was crazy.] Do you come to Louisiana often?

Darrin: I’ve been to New Orleans quite a few times.

Melody: That’s a great place to visit.

Darrin: Where do you live at in Louisiana?

Melody: I live in Baton Rouge, about 45 minutes away from New Orleans.

Darrin: Oh Baton Rouge! I shot a movie in Baton Rouge a couple of month ago.

Melody: Really?

Darrin: It was called “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” and they just finished shooting the movie with Patti LaBelle and Ciara “Mama I Want to Sing.”

Melody: That’s right, I knew about that one, but I didn’t know about “A Good Man is Hard to Find.”

Darrin: “A Good Man is Hard to Find” is me, Hill Harper, and Golden Brooks. Also Darius McCray and Mel Jackson.

Melody: Okay, is there a release date for that one?

Darrin: You can go to Codeblack.com to find out.

Melody: Okay and that is the same one as “April Fools.”

Darrin: Yup.

Melody: Wonderful, is there anything else you would like to highlight or promote?

Darrin: Definitely, my clothing line, just come to my website DarrinHenson.com and check it out. Drop me an email, drop me a note, I answer all the emails myself. Pick up a copy of “Darrin’s Dance Grooves Part 2.”

Melody: I will have to do that. I have to say part one was a little difficult for me though.

Darrin: We made part two a lot easier to learn from.

Melody: Okay, are there any particular styles of dance in part two?

Darrin: It’s Hip Hop but we do it with a split screen, back and front. So when you dance, you see it from the back and the front.

Melody: That’s good, I wish more people would do that! Now do you have a MySpace?

Darrin: Yes, www.myspace.com/darrinhenson, all my new pictures and everything are up on there as well.

Melody: Okay great, I’ll have to stop by there. Well thanks for taking the time to talk to pop-junkie.com come.

Darrin: Thank you.

Mariah Carey debuted a new slimmed down figure at the VH1 Save the Music 10th Annual Gala and say the secret to weight loss is "bleak diets."
"I don't feel like you have to be a size zero. We should all just embrace who we are physically," she said. "I'm not supposed to be a stick figure girl. It's just not me."

Last year, the singer first confessed her "bleak" diet consisted of "basically soups and fish prepared really blandly." And Carey couples the nutrition plan with arguably the most well-traveled trainer in town.

"I have a wonderful trainer whose name is Patricia, she lives in St. Barts, poor girl," she said. "People say, 'Only you would fly someone from St. Barts to New York to work out.' "

First, in a disheartening update to the Jena 6 Case, Mychal Bell is still in jail, after 9 months, and has been denied bail or bond...
A judge on Friday denied a request to release a teenager whose arrest in the beating of a white classmate sparked this week's civil rights protest in Louisiana.

Mychal Bell is one of the group known as the “Jena Six.” His request to be freed while an appeal is being reviewed was rejected at a juvenile court hearing, effectively denying him any chance at immediate bail, a person familiar with the case told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because juvenile court proceedings are closed.

Earlier, Bell's mother emerged from the hearing in tears, refusing to comment. [SOURCE]

Now, riddle me this, the DA in Jena says that the students that hung nooses from the school-yard tree could not be charged because there were no laws but last night, 2 men in Alexandria, La. were arrest for hanging nooses from a truck and circling protesters.

Talk about disparities in justice! Clearly this is the theme...

One large bottle of vodka
Two bottles of champers
Two bottles of Jack Daniels

Oh and some Coke (Coca Cola, that is).

Yeah Jay Z, the one that retired and came back, is coming out with another album. After watching the upcoming movie American Gangster [Denzel Washington, Idris Elba, T.I.] he was inspired to go back in the booth... As reported by The New York Times:
The album, which his label plans to release in early November, came together over the past few weeks after Jay-Z was shown the film, directed by Ridley Scott, in which Denzel Washington portrays Frank Lucas, a early 1970s Harlem heroin kingpin.

Following the underwhelming critical and commercial reception for his “Kingdom Come” CD late last year — and as Jay-Z grapples with whether to stay on in his post at Def Jam — the tie-in to a major motion picture gives him a chance to rebound strong and extend his reach to a wider audience.

In an hourlong telephone interview, Jay-Z, 37, who has spoken of spending his early years in Brooklyn both rapping and drug dealing, said that the movie had tremendous resonance for him and had sparked a burst of creative activity that even he found surprising. He has already recorded nine tracks, almost every one prompted by a specific scene.

“It was like I was watching the film, and putting it on pause, and giving a back story to the story,” he said.

“It immediately clicked with me,” said Jay-Z, who has made passing references to gangster movies in previous recordings but has never delved so deeply into the genre. “Like ‘Scarface,’ or any one of those films, you take the good out of it, and you can see it as an inspiring film.” [READ MORE]

The first song is said to be "Blue Magic" which will in someway relate to the movie...

Rihanna covers the October issue of Canada's Fashion Magazine. The pop star talks to FASHION about “fun,” avoiding the superstar sideshow, and calling the shots on her third album.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Full interview under the cut!

By John Crossingham

Photographed by Gabor Jurina. Styled by Tammy Eckenswiller.

Like Grenada or St. Lucia, it’s a place nearly everyone has heard of, but few know anything about, beyond that it’s hot and beautiful. Not unlike our cover girl. But despite its size, the tiny tropical isle is the birthplace of one of the biggest pop stars in the world today.

Rihanna strides into the photo studio an hour late. No one seems to mind, and aside from relief, there is little fanfare. She scans the shoot’s rack of clothes coolly, then strolls over to the makeup table. At the point of our meeting, her latest disc, Good Girl Gone Bad, is barely a week old. It and the first single, the inescapable “Umbrella,” are doing quite well, thank you.

Prior to her arrival, I’d been surrounded by people in their 30s and 40s, all swearing to an inability to remove her album from their player. Hyperbole before the big meeting? Perhaps, but even less-than-devoted followers of pop/R&B can’t claim to have any greater resistance to her powers.

Just 19 years old, Rihanna is on her third album. Signed to the Blue Note of hip-hop, Def Jam Recordings—a label run by Jay-Z, one of the most successful artists and businessmen in music—she already has contracts with JC Penney and Nike and a recent Cover Girl campaign under her belt.

In pop terms, her age is less the exception than the rule, but from head-shaving and rehab to wardrobe choices that disdain underwear, many young stars behave in ways that make 24 ripe for a mid-life crisis.

And then there’s Rihanna. Aside from unsubstantiated rumours regarding dalliances with Jay-Z, her name is never in the tabloids. Not that she’s a wallflower. Ask about the process behind her new album, and her confidence is blunt.

“I had all the freedom I could ever ask for,” she confirms, her voice sleek with cockiness. “Not that they gave it to me. I was just taking it. That’s why it’s called Good Girl Gone Bad. I wasn’t about listening to what anyone wanted me to look like, or sound like, or act like.”

Now, in pop music, a young star taking the reins isn’t all that simple. Or even the best idea. A recent Wall Street Journal article about Rihanna’s peer, American Idol success story Kelly Clarkson, chronicled that singer’s recent fall from grace. With an underachieving single, “Never Again,” and an arena tour cancelled due to low ticket sales, most of the blame was being aimed at Clarkson’s adamant decision to write her own material for her third release, My December.

To hear her talk, Rihanna had no less need to take control over her third disc. “Before, it was kind of boring,” she intones frankly of her first two albums, 2005’s Music of the Sun and 2006’s A Girl Like Me. “It worked because, exactly, it worked. It was generic. It’s been done before. With this album, I wanted to take risks. I wanted to take chances.”

Listening to Good Girl, it’s hard to know exactly what she’s risking. If Rihanna’s idea of sticking it to the Man is collaborating with proven hitmakers like Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo, not many executives would complain. Maybe the key is that despite her tough talk, Rihanna has a keen sense of how the industry works and how to play to her strengths. Take the story of first single “Umbrella,” for example.

Its pseudo–dance hall refrain (“you can stand under my um-burr-ella/ella-ella/ay-ay-ay”) drips so convincingly with her native Bajan cadence that it’s kind of surprising to learn she had no hand in its composition. Maybe she didn’t write it, but she fought damn hard to get it. “It came to the label for another group,” she recalls, “and one of the executives at the label, she said, ‘I have to play this for you.’ I heard it and I loved it, and I battled to get it.”

It is easy to see why. Not only does the song suit her range and phrasing perfectly, but it’s also a definitive “summer jam”—expertly constructed with a universal theme of commitment, but just silly enough to never take itself too seriously. From someone whose most commonly stressed mandate is to “have fun,” it’s an ideal fit.

Not that Rihanna’s having too much fun right now. Our conversation stops as she tries to extract an errant eyelash, which has worked its way under her lid, without ruining her freshly applied makeup. Aside from the hustle and bustle of photographers and editors preparing for their turn with the young star, it’s completely silent. Suddenly, the key to her balanced approach is clear: The shoot is late, she’s doing an interview while getting made up, she still has to choose what to wear, and she’s unfazed by any of it.

She’s grounded. Now, every pop star from Britney to Xtina will tell you that they are grounded on some level. But to what? Childhoods spent in malls in Louisiana or Staten Island, freighted with everything that goes with North American culture—the entitlement, the desensitization, the relentless consumerism?

These things are not quite of Rihanna’s world. As she puts it, “I think it’s a few things, but part of it is being brought up in a different culture.” A culture that Rihanna literally brings with her. “My friend,” she says, pointing at one in her entourage, who looks up smiling. “She’s from Barbados. I stay in contact with my friends and my family a lot.”

Of course, she’s got money, fame and handlers, and she can list off her favourite designers (Dolce & Gabbana, Zac Posen and Balenciaga among them) in a way that makes it clear she can afford them. It’s just that you get the sense she appreciates all of this on a level that an American girl simply cannot. Confident but not arrogant, humble but not shy—has Rihanna really nailed the balance? I leave our interview feeling just that…

“You get a refreshing burst of shine without all that sticky feeling.” I look up from my laptop as, in a serendipitous moment, Rihanna dances across my TV screen while I sit trying to finish this article. It’s her Cover Girl ad for Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers. At the end of the ad, she sings the Cover Girl slogan and drops a plug for Good Girl Gone Bad. Everybody’s happy.

A few days earlier, when asked about the campaign, she brightens immediately. “When they first approached me, they said it was between me and this other girl,” she recalls. “We just prayed about it, and eventually they called and said, ‘You’re our Cover Girl.’ I was like, ‘What!?’”

If this seems all too perfectly placed—as she says, “another dream come true”—Rihanna seems aware of the finite nature of her right now red-hot career. “I just try to think about the fun in it,” she tells me. “You have to have fun, or you will go crazy.”

I don’t think you need to be a pop star to appreciate that.

Some believe that the Goldman Family may have something to do with what is now being suspected as a possible setup [maybe? perhap?]. Apparently the Goldman Family may actually get the memorabilia that are at the center of case.
Walter Alexander, 46, said Simpson may have been tricked because the memorabilia dealer who tipped him off also recorded everything on tape.

“It sounds like a setup to me,” Alexander told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. He said Simpson had thought the memorabilia belonged to him after getting a call from the dealer.

Remy Ma was back in court yesterday as the prosecutors dropped witness-tampering and gang-assault charges on her, which are in addition to the possible 25 years she is facing for allegedly shooting her friend over missing money. They claim that she intimidated a witness by "instigating a bizarre, jawbone-cracking, boyfriend-versus-boyfriend beatdown."

"Your girlfriend's changing her number on me, and people are taking the stand" in a grand jury, the rapper allegedly growled before angrily storming off.

Remy Ma then sent over her own boyfriend - whom prosecutors also did not name - and his posse, lead prosecutor Michael McIntosh told the judge.

A tense, boyfriend-boyfriend "staring contest" ensued at the Players Club near Remy Ma's old stomping grounds along Randall Avenue, prosecutors said.

When the witness' rattled boyfriend tried to head for security, he was jumped by the posse of Remy Ma's boyfriend, the prosecutor claimed - leaving the boyfriend with a fracture in his face, and a buddy's jaw broken so severely that his mouth will be wired shut for months.

Prosecutors described the violent confrontation in hopes that Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller would find the new allegations serious enough to hike Remy Ma's bail, which is already a whopping $250,000. [SOURCE]

And their off...the "Clash of the Titans," as BET dubbed it, began and early reports say that Kanye West is outselling 50 Cent...
It looks like 50 Cent is headed for retirement, if store reports continue to trend the way they were by mid-afternoon today (Sept. 11). 50 Cent had told SOHH.com that he would quit the rap game if his new G-Unit/Interscope album, "Curtis," was outsold by Kanye West's Def Jam set "Graduation," both of which were released today.

Sales data is finalized Sunday at midnight when the Nielsen SoundScan week officially ends, but early indications are that West will be the victor, at least in the first week.

According to executives with three of the major labels, whose job duties include projecting first week scans based on early store sales reports, "Graduation" could come in at the 575,000-700,000 range, while "Curtis" is being projected in the 500,000-600,000 range.

According to Sandra Rose, the once mystery woman that popped up between Diddy and Kim Porter with a baby, Sarah Chapman, has broken her silence and talked to her in response to Kim's interview with Essence.

Sarah said, "I just wanted to let you know that whatever you write about me I want it to be truthful things."

"I never moved out of Atlanta," she said. "I have always lived here and I'm definitely 33. I graduated [from Spelman] in '96. My birthday is next week and I'm going to be 34," she said. "I never ran away from Atlanta because I was pregnant." Sarah, who was born in Minneapolis, said she moved to Atlanta at age 17 to attend Spelman College.

Sarah's response to Kim's assertion that she didn't know her: "A lot of what you said is true about me and Kim. There's so much more to the story than that. She definitely knows who I am," said Sarah. "Yes, it's true, we've had words. [Kim] knew about my pregnancy prior to her getting pregnant. In fact, Kim and I met [Sean] at the same time."

Sarah stressed that she doesn't seek out the spotlight: "That's not for me. I don't enjoy that. I'll let Kim have that"

She also talked about the rumors that surrounded her pregnancy last year: "There's been rumors out there that [Sean Combs] offered me a million dollars to not have the baby, said Sarah. "If he gave me a million dollars I wouldn't be calling him every month for child support," she joked. "I mean, he pays me on a monthly basis, but there's rumors that he offered me a million dollars hush money."

Read more under the cut...

About her longterm relationship with Sean, Sarah said, "He and I are friends, we've always been friends. I've known him for a long time - 13 years exactly. Sarah adding that they dated "on and off" over those years. "I know it sounds very cliché, but we really are friends. It's never been a situation where I'm trying to step on top of [Kim] or I'm trying to be in her position."

Sarah expressed surprise that Kim dropped her name in the Essence interview. "She threw my name in that shit," said Sarah, raising her voice slightly. Regarding Kim's revelation that Kim didn't speak to Sean Combs about Sarah's baby until after her twins were born, Sarah said, "the scary part is that any woman can be with a man and not even mention to him 'oh, I heard you got another woman pregnant' - that's really scary. For the longest time she never mentioned my pregnancy to him. She kept it a secret to herself so it wouldn't take the shine off of her," said Sarah. "I thought [Sean] was lying, but he said Kim never mentioned my pregnancy to him."

Sarah stressed she wanted the opportunity to tell her side of the story in a national forum. "I don't have a voice," she said softly. "I don't have a forum to speak about my child. He has the forum. I'm not a superstar, he's the superstar. He's the person that should be out there acknowledging his child. I'm going on with my daily life and raising my child. We do what we do. We go to Sesame Street and the zoo," said Sarah.

"Now that she's lured me out, let me paint the picture. I don't want anyone else to paint the picture. Let me have a say so," she said. "I need to have a voice. I want to be heard."

Diane Von Furstenberg | Baby Phat | Tracy Reese

Every year the same question comes up at Fashion Week, were is the diversity? Much attention has been given to the weight of the models, however race has been an issue at the annual showcases for years and much hasn't changed about that...
At New York's Fashion Week many top designers chose to employ one or two black models and a few Asians in shows and some had none, Reuters reporters who attended over 40 shows by found. Blacks, and blacks in combination with another race, make up about 13 percent of Americans, U.S. Census data shows.

Diane von Furstenberg and Baby Phat were among the few that had a more equal racial mix of models. At least half the models used for Baby Phat, which features Kimora Lee Simmons' glitzy urban designs, were black or Asian.

J. Alexander, a runway coach on TV's "America's Next Top Model" who helped produce Baby Phat's show, said the standard for using black models is "two girls, three maximum" per show.

"And you normally get one to make it clear that she is obviously dark too so they don't get any lip from journalists or any backlash for being racist," he said.

Several designers and a few models, including top black model Alek Wek, were reticent to comment on race, although Wek acknowledged difficulties at the start of her career.

"There were people who criticized me but I took no notice," the Sudanese model told Reuters. "You can see I am black, that's who I am.

"Whether you are black or white, modeling is hard work and you have to be really determined to succeed." [SOURCE]

Keyshia Cole covers the October issue of Essence Magazine and in her feature story she addresses her childhood as the daughter of a drug-addicted prostitute to her rise to platinum-status fame...Here is a snippet of the interview:
ESSENCE: Were you always going to be a solo artist?

KEYSHIA COLE: Well, actually, I was gonna be in a group with these two girls. We were in Los Angeles and we were working with Damon Elliot, who is Dionne Warwick’s son, and he was like, “Keysh, if you wanna sign with the girl group, you can; but I’ll sign you solo.” And I was like, I’d rather be solo because I do everything in the group anyway. They’re just pretty. We were gonna get, like, a $30,000 advance and split it ten/ten/ten; but I figured, "Why should I give them my $20,000 when I can get it myself?" So I told them, “I’m sorry, but I can’t.” Then I recorded a couple songs with Damon and one of them was (the hit single) “Love.”

ESSENCE: Early in your career you went to Los Angeles and met legendary music producer Suge Knight and Tupac Shakur. What was that like?

COLE: My brother was close with Pac, he got records with Pac and everything. And Pac’s mother is really cool with my brother and me. So to me, Pac was just like a big brother. That time was like one of the biggest moments in history, and I saw everything. I was with them in Malibu and Vegas and I stayed in the “big house” by myself. I knew the world, the whole industry, everything. I was only fourteen.

The October issue will be on stands tomorrow, more under the cut including how she feels about the Mary J Blige comparison...

ESSENCE: You recently got out of a serious relationship. How’s that been?

COLE: After my ex-boyfriend told me to go on and live my life, I saw him at a place with another girl. I was pissed! I tried to rip her head off. Then he was like, “Dude, you broke up with me.” But that’s just what it is.

ESSENCE: Your sister, Neffeteria, who plays a big part in your BET reality show, The Way It Is (premiering October 30), seems to have had a pretty difficult life. What advice do you give her?

COLE: I’ve told her, “You need to work on you.” After going through so much, you really gotta worry about yourself first. Everything else is secondary. Everything else. Husband, kids…well, not the kids, ’cause she takes care of those babies very well. But really, you gotta work on yourself first. If you don’t, you ain’t gonna be able to deal with people.

ESSENCE: How do you feel about constantly being compared to Mary J. Blige?

COLE: I feel like we are very similar based on everything we’ve been through in our personal lives. It’s helped make us sing the way we sing. Because she didn’t have a vocal coach, and neither did I. And when I met her I told her, “You winning all those Grammy’s—congratulations—it gives me inspiration to this day that maybe I can do the same thing.” You know, it’s just a real big life circle. I think there are a lot of things that she could tell me that’d help me. I’m not trying to take nobody’s place or nothing like that. But I’m just saying, as a woman—as a young Black woman—if she knows some of the answers, Give ’em to me!” (Laughing.) But she said that I could call her anytime. I just haven’t done it yet.

Britney's phoned in performance to the VMAs has everyone still talking...but the reaction is all the same! She was wiggity wiggity whack! Word on the curb is that she was seen bawling her eyes out after the disastrous performance!
The reaction from her so-called peers wasn't much better. 50 Cent was gape-mouthed as he watched the spectacle from the front row, while Rihanna was caught on camera giggling with a girlfriend.

"She didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There was no spark," rapper Common observed to the Daily News. "I don't wanna disrespect her, but she can't sing!"

Adds rapper-cum-producer Akon, "I think she needed to have focused more on the show and less on the parties."

Kanye West took a moment from tossing one of his many (and totally played out) hissy fits to tell USA Today, "I have no words."

Neither did Ashanti, although she didn't need any. When the paper asked her what she thought of Brit-Brit's blah bump-and-grind, she "laughed, rolled her eyes and walked away" before her rep stepped in and said she had no comment. [READ MORE]

According to Jawn Murray on the BV Buzz, Kelly Rowland is back in the studio recording songs to place on the planned re-release of her album Miss Kelly. Kim Porter says she knew about the about the other women and the other babies too! In part two of her interview with Essesnce Magazine, she talks about how Diddy betrayed her...
"I wasn't even coming from the place of who, what, why," Porter tells the magazine. "I laid low and did what women do: I did my background work, collected information [about the other woman]. But I wasn't even on it like that because I was pregnant, and what was bubbling inside me was a blessing from God. I couldn't let my energy be on that. I didn't have time for any drama, trauma and bull----."

As Porter was to learn, the other baby was born five months before Porter and Combs's twins arrived. The mother was Sarah Chapman, 33, who lives in Atlanta, worked in fashion and knew Combs for several years, her attorney tells Essence.

Of Combs's behavior, says Porter, "It's not an original script. He's not the first man who's cheated. He's not the first man who's had a baby outside of his relationship. He's not the originator of this. But at this point in my life – I have girls now – it's a different program."

"I would have preferred to find out from him because that's a man," she says. "I know it's hard for anyone to say to their significant other, 'I've gotten into some s--- and I got a baby on the way.' But men do get caught up in things; I'm not naive to that. Still, there's a right and a wrong way to handle it. Because, most of all, we were friends. Even if I couldn't have understood it as a woman, I would have understood it as a friend." [SOURCE]

This year's MTV Video Music Awards was kinda boring...MTV is just trying to do way too much in 2 hours.

Check out a review of the show and all the videos under the cut...

8:01 - Britney Spears: Oh lawd...stop, I can't even take it. I was so hoping that the girl could pull it off. Hope! It was a hot [shitty] mess. How do you lip sync and still sound bad? Her energy level was a 2 and her dancing was stiff. The weave was a catastrophe. Did you see 50, Diddy, and Jamie Foxx faces! Ha... Damn, I had hope too! Oh well...No wonder they cut in half way through it.

8:06 - Sarah Silverman is funny to me, she says the shit we know we are thinking...I'd just hate to be subject of her monologue!

8:08 - A. Keys looks HOT! Loving the black leather and scarlet lips...gorgeous and sleek.

8:11 - I adore the dress Nicole S. is wearing, that's fly for real!

8:13 - Monster Single of the Year Rihanna's "Umbrella." She looked gorgeous in her glam with a touch of edge look. Congrats to my boy The Dream for writing the Monster Single of the Year...

8:23 - Jennifer Hudson did look stunning as Robin Thicke said, I like the look, ole Andre Leon from Vouge must have been on vacay! Justin wins Quadruple Threat...I'll take it. Ya'll know Beyonce could have won but since she wished she was Latin, she'll get it at the Latin VMAs...

8:33 - Kanye and 50 Cent present Earth-Shattering Collaboration which goes to Beyonce and Shakira for "Beautiful Liar." Me likes the dress, great color, but did accentuate the hips...could be a good thing.

8:36 - Oh Adam, I love Maroon 5, you need their album! I could go without the vest and scarf though.

8:43 - Chris Brown...as Charlie Chapman. Cute. Kids too! Lip syncing again though...I guess that's where the comparisons to Usher and Michael Jackson stop because they don't lip sync...

Rihanna is back! Foot healed and she's not lip syncing that's for sure. The outfit is fly though...I need a hat like that.

An ode to Michael Jackson and in to "Kiss Kiss." Hell I'm tired now...that boy can perform!

8:56 - Yes, I'm a Black girl that watches The Hills, love all three dress, don't like the dark lip on L.C. though. Male Artist of the Year goes to Justin Timberlake. Damn, I guess he feels his video didn't get enough spins on MTV. I need my Real World and The Hills...But I have MTV Jams and MTV Hits if I want to watch videos...

Darling Nikki with the Foo Fighters and Cee-Lo, that's hot! I want to see the whole thing!

Oh goodness that Tila Taquila reality show looks a mess, that I will most likely watch...

9:07 - Female Artist of the Year goes to Fergie, ehh, I guess, I liked her album but I don't know...

9:09 - Kanye and T-Pain, I like that song...That's a new one, performing the song throughout a hotel! That is def the "Good Life"
