The multi-million dollar house that has been the center of the drama between 50 Cent and his baby mama, Shaniqua has ‘suspiciously’ gone up in flames [insert side eye here]! SUSPECT! Though, police have not said that Fif is a suspect, the circumstances around the house fire is very much questionable.

This is the same Dix Hills home that 50 took her to court for in which the judge sided with 50.

Arson squad investigators were on the scene of the Friday blaze.

Fif is nuts, by any standards, would he burn down his own house? Maybe, but I can’t co-sign on him putting his son in danger… While on set in Shreveport filming a movie he released the following statement:
"Informed this morning while filming a new motion picture on location in Louisiana, Curtis Jackson expressed deep concern over this fire at his property. He is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely. He is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings."
Shaniqua, however calls out 50 as the culprit:

So far they were pretty good, but make sure to call me if one takes a tumble down some stairs or gets a hat thrown at their heads. I keed keed...

Looks like all that time in hiding under the watchful eye of Clive Davis is working some wonders with Whitney Houston. Testing the water over seas, Whitney performed in Morocco this past weekend at their Mawazine Music Festival. Clearly taking her time and adjusting to her current vocal range, she definitely sounds a hell of lot better singing "I Will Always Love You" than her past runs at. Get it Nippy!

This makes me happy. Check out "I Love You Lord" as well.

Jay Z and Beyonce took their newlywed show across the world to the Cannes Film Festival, spotted partying on Diddy's yacht after the Dolce & Gabbana Party and arriving in London's Heathrow Airport over the holiday weekend. Of course the blogosphere is buzzing about a possible baby Carter, but she has that wine glass in her hand. Could be just a photo op, though. Never know these days, but I need to see a definitive bump to believe it.

Usher stopped by TRL today and can I just say what everyone is thinking... Usher, stop the damn whining! As Usher's album, Here I Stand, drops today, all he can talk about is the fact that he fired his mama, his mama didn't come to his wedding, he married a man, blah blah blah...

Tell me why I should buy your damn album, Ursh!?

As he hits the promotional road, he speaks to EW about his mom's wedding boycott:

''My mother made a decision not to come to my wedding because she didn't really agree with my decision,'' he explains, declining to specify whether she disagreed with his choice of wife or his decision to fire her. ''I don't know why,'' he offers simply. ''She's never told me and I've never asked her. It hurt me very much not to see her there 'cause I would've liked for her to be there, not to mention that I paid so much money for her to be accommodated and her behind didn't show up. [Laughs] But just as she's made stands, so have I.''
In other Usher tantums, word on the curb is that he pulled some bitchassness on the set of "Dancing with the Stars" last week, showing up late and fumbling twice causing delaying in recording.

First let me preface this by saying don't take this as gospel, but the following quote is said to have come from UK's Look Magazine [never heard of it] from Beyonce giving a psuedo confirmation of her marriage to Jay Z:
"I don't deny it (the wedding). I just don't talk about it. We've never talked about us and it's kind of protected our relationship. I think it's kept us out of tabloid drama.

"A lot of actresses that have had successful relationships don't talk about them, so neither do I." [SOURCE]

This shit... This shit right here... This is my theme song! Like my Rocky theme in the mornings to get my mind right.

Lil' Wayne - "Ask Dem Hoes"

Lil' Wayne absolutely kills this track from his leaked album and it's a perfect prelude to his highly anticipated release, Tha Carter III which drops June 10th.

Weezy F. will be closing the show of the BET Awards airing June 24th. During last week's BET Awards press conference, he shared that he's in talks to appear in "Furious 4," as well as slated to appear in the movie "Patriots," starring Forest Whitaker.

He also said there will be an official remix to"Lollipop," but wouldn't reveal who... My guess is it's the one with Kanye West, which is pretty fresh to def!

The day has come for Ar-rah [R. Kelly] to face the music in his 6 year-delayed child pornography case as his trail began today in Chicago... However, the real star in the case? The actual sex tape [which will be shown in the court room]. R. Kelly's defense? It wasn't me.
“Robert Kelly is not on that tape,” Adam told jurors. “I stand before you on May 20, 2008, to tell you [the alleged victim] is not on that tape.”

Adam said that Kelly, 41, has a mole in the middle of his lower back, and that the mole will prove it’s not the singer who appears on the video. The lawyer told jurors that, when the video is shown, it will become clear the man on the tape had no such mole. He said the FBI could not identify the man on the tape as Kelly. [SOURCE]
The alleged victim, Sparkle's niece, will not be testifying, the reporter that received the tape has been subpoenaed by the defense and the defense claims the chick in the vid was a paid prostitute.

I don't think they will convict him. I'm not convince the prosecution has enough credible eveidence.

Someone in Beyonce's camp is dropping leaked songs like flies...three songs in one weekend hit the internet. All sound like rough cuts and word is they are tracks left on the cutting room floor of B'Day.

The first, "Should Have (Now I Know)" is very rough but it plays more to a pop sound, that reminds me of OneRepublic's "Apologize." I like the melody and it is one of those songs that would get stuck in your head.

The next track "New Shoes" is "Irreplaceable" part 72, with a high snare in the beat, it sounds like the same ole same we've been hearing since '07. It was written by Ne-Yo, and clearly Bey went for the better track.

The last track "Kick Him Out (Next Ex)" is the one I liked the most, a more uptempo track. It's classic sassy Beyonce.

Jennifer Hudson is on a roll lately with a role in one of this year's biggest films, Sex and the City and her debut album finally scheduled to be released this September. I still want more, I want to hear what her sound became...

LISTEN: Jennifer Hudson - "Spotlight"

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, she dishes on the new album...
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Your album is done?

JENNIFER HUDSON: Finally! The album! Really, this is what I've been waiting for, dreaming of my whole life. It's just a matter of narrowing down [the song choices]. I've got the jitters because it's my first album and a lot of people don't realize that. Everybody thinks I did that already: ''This is your second or third album.'' I'm like, No, this is my first album.

Congratulations! But it's been over four years since Idol — why did it take so long to finish?

Because I didn't expect to be a singer and an actress. I've been very busy. I've shot three films. And I told my team I want to put my attention on one or the other. When I'm acting I don't sing, and when I'm recording I'm not acting.

Essence Magazine celebrates Black Music Month with three of R&B's biggest voices, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott and Alicia Keys in a triple cover collectors edition. As the magazine describes them, they are the "truth and the light in R&B."
Essence: One thing you all have in common is that you each had a debut album that was a phenomenal success. How do you feel when you hear those songs now?

Mary J. Blige: It’s been about six months since I’ve listened to What’s the 411? I was in Japan working out, and when I heard it, I could definitely feel my youth, but I could also hear that I’ve always had an old soul. When I think back to that time, I remember that I was singing to escape. I understand that some people are stuck in that place, but I firmly believe that if you don’t evolve and grow, you will die.

Essence: From the outside looking in, it seems that success has been yours since day one, but there probably were, and are, disappointments. How do you cope when a project doesn’t pan out?

Jill Scott: This is life, and if something doesn’t work out, then it wasn’t meant to. I feel that there is a divine plan in all things. All I can do is the best I can do, and if it’s well received, then, yeah. If not, I hope life will give me an opportunity to try again. Do I challenge myself? Absolutely. But beat myself up? I just can’t do it.

Essence: Have you ever regretted folding to pressure from record labels?

Alicia Keys: In the beginning, I didn’t understand the concept of boundaries. I wanted to make sure the music was heard, but there’s a price you pay for that. I did everything and anything to promote my first album, like flying from New York to Los Angeles and back on the same day, which was a bit excessive.

Essence: Have you figured out the ingredients for the perfect song?

Mary: Yes, but I won’t tell. [Laughs] For me, it’s about being real and honest. And the lyrics have to be relatable.

Jill: Oh, I wish I knew. I think Ne-Yo knows. I think Carvin Haggins, who does a lot of writing for Musiq Soulchild, has the ingredients, too. My songs are mostly about life experiences, about being human and falling and getting back up. About loving and losing.

Essence: But aren’t those the ingredients right there?

Alicia: It’s always a bit of a mystery. A song should deal with a widely understood emotion, have a really strong, clear explanation of that emotion and a great melody that makes you want to sing it at the top of your lungs. Then the music should evoke the same feeling as the lyrics. Somewhere within all of that lies the perfect song.
For our complete interview with Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Jill Scott pick up ESSENCE's June 2008 issue now on stands.

For those who gather that evening, Winfrey is not just a talk show host and more than a mere business woman. She is a legend, an icon—but mostly, a mentor. Her unprecedented success in American business serves as the undisputed blueprint for many minority entrepreneurs. Her leadership has broken down barriers; her business instinct the stuff of legend; and her innovation unprecedented. She has spent her entire career beating the odds—and has inspired millions of business-minded minorities in the process.

On the heels of her Company of the Year honor, Winfrey gives an exclusive interview to BLACK ENTERPRISE Editorial Director Sonia Alleyne, discussing her business beginnings, mistakes, lessons learned, and her defining philosophy that is inspiring future business moguls. In BE’s June issue cover feature, “Oprah Means Business,” Winfrey talks about the winning formula that has taken Harpo Inc. from a five-person production company to a 430-employee multimedia conglomerate that grossed $345 million in 2007 (No. 14 on the BE Industrial/Service 100 list). Today, she is one of a handful of black billionaires across the globe; her net worth estimated at $2.5 billion.

As the 54-year-old dynamo prepares to unveil the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in 2009—in which she will hold a 50% stake—she asserts that divine inspiration, not strategic planning, is the key to her company’s success: “I haven’t planned one thing—ever. I have just been led by a strong instinct, and I have made choices based on what was right for me at the time.”

Winfrey admits to learning some hard lessons as a result of her nontraditional approach to business. Starting with just five employees, she got along for years without management controls or development programs to grow talent as she grew the business. “For too long, I operated this business like a family. After a while, you can’t see everybody; you can’t talk to everybody,” she says. “And now you have people managing people who were never managers before.” She didn’t realize how much the company’s rapid growth was taxing her staff. During that time, the nationally syndicated superstar was still making lunch runs because the rest of her staff was tied up with booking and producing tasks. For years, Winfrey’s team prided itself on being a lean operation. In the process, she discovered that this strong work ethic also contributed to mass burnout.

As Winfrey progressed, she learned another vital lesson—that she is her own best counsel. At the beginning of the decade, veteran TV executive Geraldine Laybourne decided to start Oxygen, an independent cable network for women. To make the venture work, she courted Winfrey as an investor. Winfrey recalls: “I went along with the Oxygen plan because my lawyer at the time, and lots of other people around me said, ‘How are you going to let there be a woman’s network and not be a part of it?’” The network struggled with programming and branding, and Winfrey eventually reduced Harpo’s programming commitment. “It was an ego decision and not a spirit decision, which is how I make all my decisions,” she says. “The only decisions that get me in trouble are ego decisions.”

Winfrey’s brand of leadership demands that nothing be taken for granted. “I don’t yell at people, I don’t mistreat people, I don’t talk down to people. So no one else in this building, in this vicinity, has the right to do it,” she states emphatically. “Treating people with respect is the most important thing to me. It’s not just talk.” That creed—both inside and outside the organization—is a large part of her legacy. She has developed a series of ventures through a variety of media platforms to communicate her guiding philosophy of dignity, purpose, and empowerment. “Television is the most powerful medium we have,” she continues. “The Internet is close and there will be a hybrid of the two at some point. But that medium inside the home to communicate with people, that visual medium … is the most powerful thing you can have. That is an enormous amount of influence.”

As the distribution contract for her show terminates in 2011, Winfrey looks forward to building OWN and promises that it will be more expansive than anything she’s ever developed. “My intention is for it to live beyond me, for it to be a living network of possibilities for people in their own lives,” she explains. “To be able to say that my life was used in service, to help people come to their highest potential—I would do it even if my name wasn’t attached to it.”

The complete interview with Oprah Winfrey can be found in the June 2008 issue of BLACK ENTERPRISE on newsstands June 3. For inclusive coverage of the largest black-owned businesses of 2008, log on to www.blackenterprise.com.

She totally won me over with her first single "Bubbly" that I had to check out her debut album Coco and fell in love with this song. It's my favorite by far, it just makes me sing along and for some reason I just feel the song.

And can you believe that American Idol passed on her? Just shows you that it's not the end all, be all in singing talent. She's actually a MySpace prodigy, she pulled a Cassie and got noticed on the site, landing her a record deal.

UPDATE: READ THE FULL ARTICLE AFTER THE JUMP!

With just a few friends on hand (and four boxes of Maine lobster), surprise couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon tie the knot at a sunset ceremony on the beach in the Bahamas

They hadn't even gone public with their relationship--in fact, they had only recently begun seeing each other--when Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon decided to take the plunge. "We got tattoos!" says Carey. "His is on one shoulder to the other and it says 'Mariah.'" And hers? "It's on my lower back and it says 'Mrs. Cannon,'" she says. Only after that did they ink a marriage license--and pull off the surprise wedding of the year. Carey and singer-actor Cannon first met in 2005 at the Teen Choice Awards but only started dating in late March. Just weeks later, to the shock of a lot of their friends and family, they whisked off to Carey's Bahamian estate and wed in a sunset, ocean-side ceremony April 30. While still on their honeymoon, the giddy newlyweds spoke exclusively to People's Liz McNeil about their whirlwind courtship, Cannon's candy-themed proposal and--yep--having kids.

So, how does it feel to be married?
Mariah: [Laughing] Who wants to go first? You go first.
Nick: It feels amazing. My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. I've been smiling for days.
Mariah: It's comforting--and something I've never felt before. Which is really being in love and happy with someone who really understands me and isn't trying to do anything but make me happy. It's wonderful.

It happened pretty fast, didn't it?
Nick: In our minds, it was a love-at-first-sight thing. Since we've been together, we've been inseparable.
Mariah: I don't think anyone realized what we already know--that we were going to get married.

When did you first know that?
Nick: I'd always admired Mariah from afar, but once we connected I felt it was destined: This has to be my wife.
Mariah: I definitely knew. Of course, everyone is running the photo from the 2005 Teen Choice Awards...
Nick: From then on, I thought, "I have to get closer to her and express my true feelings." I was praying I'd have the chance to share them with her.
Mariah: People were very skeptical and told him, "You can never get past her people." I only knew that he'd say nice things about me. So I thanked him when [I saw him again].
Nick: I said, "I meant every single word. Hopefully I can express more to you." She was down-to-earth. From that point, we built a friendship.

In late March, Carey flew to Antigua to shoot a music video for "Bye Bye," from her new album, E=MC². She cast Cannon, 27--star of MTV's Wild'N Out, and an entertainment minimogul with his own record label and clothing line--as the romantic lead.

Mariah: I told people, "I like him and want him to do it." The song was a love story. It was perfect for us.
Nick: From the first time we sat down to discuss the video at the Beverly Hills Hotel, we connected. We had so much in common spiritually, and we laugh at the same things. I didn't have to put on my Mac Daddy suave mode. I was able to be myself with her. We are both eternally 12 years old.
Mariah: [Laughing] We were having a such a good time on the shoot.
Nick: I brought her little pieces of candy. I'd write little third-grade notes instead of being over-the-top.
Mariah: He wrote the note, "Will you be my girlfriend?" with boxes for yes or no. In the video, we're boyfriend and girlfriend. It seemed very natural.

Were all your friends surprised by your marriage?
Mariah: Some were, but some weren't. One thing [few people] knew was we got tattoos a few weeks earlier. So anyone who saw my [Mrs. Cannon] tattoo wasn't surprised.
Nick: To me rings are special and exciting, but tattoos mean more than anything. They're forever and ever. They professed our love.
Mariah: And they hurt!
Nick: A lot.

Why did you keep your engagement and wedding plans a secret?
Mariah: We only told people who had to know. [To everyone else] we said we were [going to the Bahamas] for the video. If we brought a million people with us, it would've been obvious we weren't shooting a video.

The week of the wedding, Nick and Mariah traveled to her estate on the Bahamian island of Windermere on a Gulfstream jet. They also flew in boxes of live Maine lobsters, fine china and Dom Perignon champagne. Just a dozen guests attended, including BFFs like rapper Da Brat.

Mariah: Only about four people know we were going down there to get married. Once we were there, they gave me a bachelorette party. Everyone calls me Mary Poppins. No matter how provocatively I might dress, I'm very pruddish. So they did everything they could to shock me. They had a grab bag full of silly things they think a bachelorette wants. They were so happy they got to embarrass me.

Describe your wedding dress.
Mariah: It was a simple, slim-cut dress [by Nile Cmylo] in an off-white that turns into a very pale pink to match the sand. And [Christian] Louboutins--I can wear high heels with Nick because he's tall. Flats are not in my repertoire. Nick looked beautiful in his tux.
Nick: I think it was Balenciaga.

How was the ceremony?
Mariah: We got married at sunset on the beach. We were trying to get the really golden light. It was late--of course I was late, it's just in my DNA. We had a white carpet on the sand that went to the water's edge. My pastor Clarence Keaton flew in from New York. The whole wedding was really beautiful and sweet. Being there with loved ones under the sky... it was a spiritual moment.

What were you thinking then?
Mariah: When I walked down the aisle, I was thinking, "My veil is blowing all over the place!" It was really windy. I was nervous. We didn't know if they would make us speak.
Nick: I haven't been shy in years, but I was speechless. I was elated, but I was thinking, "Don't pass out." What the pastor did was really cool. He said, "The eyes are the window to the soul," then gave us an entire minute to stare into each other's eyes. So I was saying, "Don't cry."
Mariah: With the sun setting on the turquoise water, we kissed.
Nick: We had our passionate wedding kiss. Then I swooped her off her feet.
Mariah: He carried me to the water.

And afterward?
Mariah: The cake came out. Everybody stumbled over their toasts. They didn't know what to say. They thought they were coming to a shoot!

What about a honeymoon?
Mariah: That was being here [in the Bahamas] after the wedding. Some friends stayed, too, but it was really time for Nick and I to be together.

Have you thought about kids yet?
Mariah: Yes.
Nick: Absolutely.

What do you love about each other?
Nick: She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside. She is such a giving, nurturing spirit. Someone who has spent their entire life making others happy.
Mariah: We really do feel we are soulmates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me. I was always so career-oriented. I would hope and pray for my friends to find love, but I never did that for myself. And then? Everything just fell into place!

The Proposal
On April 25 Cannon took Carey to the roof of her N.Y.C. apartment to see the Empire State Building, lit pink and lavender to honor her album E=MC². As he often did, he gave her a Ring Pop--candy shaped like a big jewel. But inside the wrapper was a 17-carat pink-diamond ring created by Jacob & Co.'s Jacob Arabo. Her reaction? "He had ribbons around it, so I said, 'I think mine's broken,'" says Carey. When he dropped to one knee, "she ran away and got all shy." he says. Finally, she said yes--twice. Cannon, who filmed it all, proposed again to get a perfect take, this time on a helicopter. "That," says Carey, "was beautiful."

I still don't believe it, but People confirms that Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are indeed married. Talk about a wet dream come true for Nick. This is most random, out-of-the-blue, who-knew-they-even-knew-each-other marriage. After six weeks?

Cannon adds: "She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside."

Dwyane Wade and Star Jones? Spare me the details... That is one couple that I can't even think about, I tried to ignore it like the Nick/Mimi foolery. Both still married, Star filing for divorce, are the newest match up to hit the rumor mill.

Ughh...I'll pass.

D Wade halfass denied a brewing relationship on TNT's Inside the NBA...
“Star is an unbelievable woman. We have a great, great relationship. As friends.”

“We’re friends, just like a lot of celebrities. We are friends,” the pro basketball star said Thursday during a guest appearance on “Inside the NBA,” the jocular TNT show featuring Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson.

“Are y’all close friends?” Smith asked.

“We’re good friends,” Wade responded.

“Are you the kind of friends that drink out of one cup with two straws?” Smith persisted, referring to a much-discussed photo of Wade, 26, and Jones, the 46-year-old TV personality who recently filed for divorce, at a tennis match. “Those kind of friends?”

“We are friends. That’s all,” said Wade, who is married to his high school sweetheart and has two sons.

“Good friends?” Barkley interjected.

“Naw, Chuck,” Wade said with a smile.

Some hilarity ensued. Barkley broke through the commotion to say, “I like Star. She’s a cougar.”
Again...UGH! That's just nasty.

In other D Wade pussy-drama, a groupie called into a local radio station claiming to have slept with Dwyane last October. It's pretty skanky, you can listen to the audio here. [Link via Necole Bitchie]

In her interview, she speaks on those pesky love rumors and more…
On the rumor about a relationship with Jay-Z:

I get asked about it all the time and I’m like, You’re asking, but you know the answer. I don’t even like to address it anymore.”

On Chris Brown:
“We’ve always been friends, but we’re very close now.”

Rihanna on her hair:
“I kept telling my managers, I’m cutting my hair. I’m cutting my hair. And they’re like, ‘How short? Not too short. Cut it how short?’ And I’m like, ‘Up to here,’ ” Rihanna says, raising her hand up to her ear. “They never believed me. So when it was time to do the album cover [for Good Girl], the night before I cut it, I dyed it black. We went straight to the photo shoot, and no one at the record label knew what I looked like. When we sent the pictures over, they saw the hair and they all loved it. They loved it.”

Granted he has an ego, but everything isn't always about it. Don't try to 'Michael Jackson' him...He post this blog in response to a little mishap at the Houston stop on the Glow in the Dark Tour.
Don't believe the hype! When I started the show the other night we were having a lot of technical issues due 2 the heat. The 2 huge screens on both sides of the stage were glaring bright blue like when your DVD player acts up at home. I asked for them 2 turn the screens off 3 times because it was distracting 2 the show. The fans were not getting what they paid for. I admit, in my frustration, I did use profanity on the 4th time I asked. I stopped the show 2 go over and check it out myself. After the screens were turned off I started the same song from the beginning. The screens were eventually fixed 5 songs in but it was definitely better 2 have them blacked out rather than bright blue. Unfortunately for certain media outlets, you will never be able 2 'Michael Jackson' me. That means 2 make it seem like everything I do is so weird or out of place... they always try 2 make it seem like everything is about my ego! That joke is getting old. At a certain point you have 2 respect that I'm one of the last artist that still cares about the fans having the best time of there lives! Thanks 2 Bossip and Perez for taking it easy on me on the EW spaz... I did go in a little 2 much on that one. I'm sure there are some cool people who work over there and had nothing 2 do with that review. With all that said.... "I'm still the greatest!!!" lol!! Oh and I was in the studio with T.I. last night.... so get ready!!! - KANYE'S BLOG

Karina Pasian is one Def Jam's newest stars who's making serious noise with her debut single "16 @ War" which was written by The Dream. Being the god daughter of Quincy Jones, music is clearly in her blood, but the talent is definitely there. Like a young Alicia Keys, she sings and is a classically trained pianist. "16 @ War" is like a teenager's anthem. You can expect her debut album out this June.

Continue reading for more on Karina, and you can check her out on MySpace or catch all her videos on her YouTube channel that has videos from years ago, including the day she met Alicia Keys.

Even before 16-year-old Karina Pasian signed to Def Jam records, the stellar singer was already making a name for herself. From her winning performance on Star Search in 2003 to singing at the White House last June during Black Music Month, this New York City chanteuse has been paying her professional dues since she was a toddler.

“I’ve been singing and playing piano since I was three,” says Karina. “My babysitter had a piano, and she started teaching me how to play. It wasn’t until a year later that I began getting professional lessons.” While some have been quick to compare Karina Pasian to other performers including Aaliyah, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey, one listen to her self-assured debut disc is evidence enough that she is destined for success.

Karina remembers the first time she sang in front of an audience. “I sang Céline Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a talent show. I was kind of nervous, but the audience loved it.”

From that point, there was no denying that music would be her life. A few years later, after using the Prince-penned ballad “How Come U Don’t Call” for an audition, Karina Pasian was cast on a revamped version of Star Search. “That was such a wonderful experience,” says Karina, who won the first round of the competition with a rousing version of the Jackson Five classic “I’ll Be There.”

Working with an array of songwriters, producers and artists that include The Dream, Tricky Stewart, Gordon Chambers, Chris Brown, Carlos McKinnney, Lil Mama and others, Karina proves to be a breath of fresh soul. “I’ve recorded over 70 songs in the last two years,” Karina says. “It was a period of real growth for me as I learned to focus and stay consistent.”

Karina Pasian’s godfather, famed producer and businessman Quincy Jones, has also been a guardian angel for the young singer. In addition to giving her advice, the maestro included her in the “We Are the Future” charity concert in 2006. Considering the talents Jones has worked with, from Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan to Michael Jackson and Tamia, she is in good company. “I know I’m blessed to have someone like Quincy in my corner,” she says.

A fan who embraces all forms of music, from the stylish Black pop of Brandy to old school jazz greats, Karina performed the standard “Misty” when she was at the White House last year. “Emilio Estefan, who has been a friend of my family for years, helped to put the show together, and invited me to be a part of it,” says Karina. “Later, my brother told me that I was the first Dominican to play at the White House, and that made me very proud.”

Studying music and voice at High School for the Professional Performing Arts, the Washington Heights native was more than prepared for any challenges that arose in the studio. “I was blessed to have some pretty amazing teachers who prepared me well,” she says sweetly. Refusing to fall into any cliché, Karina Pasian has recorded an album that is a reflection of her age and independent point of view.

Karina Pasian’s song “Sixteen” is a song of independence and admiration. “Ain’t no daddy’s where I’m from, its just mad mothers…why am I disrespected by someone I should call brother,” she sings in a pristine voice. “I wanted to do a song about what teenager girls go through in urban areas. It’s not cool that boys think they’re being cute when they say nasty stuff to us on the street.” Written and produced by The Dream and Tricky Stewart, best known for their work with Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Madonna’s “Me Against the Music,” the song “Sixteen” reminds one of vintage Brill Building girls like the Crystals or Little Eva with an electro-groove.

Another The Dream and Tricky Stewart track that will leave fans breathless is “Baby Baby,” an uptempo song that is destined to be a dancefloor scorcher. “Though this is a fun song, it’s not just a party song,” says Karina “It’s about guys who simply see young women as sex objects, but I refuse to be that girl.” Indeed, like Aretha Franklin, she simply wants some respect. Sharing the mic with rapper Lil Mama (“Lip Gloss” & “Shawty Get Loose”), the two young stars connected in the studio. “Lil Mama was so cool, but it was her confidence in the booth that was really exciting.”

Produced and written by Carlos McKinney, the sing-songy “Can’t Find the Words” embraces elements of jazz and pop while simultaneously creating a whimsical track that sounds like nothing else of the radio. Additionally, Karina’s favorite song “Winner,” which highlights her elegant piano (her light touch on the keyboard reminds one of Erroll Garner) playing, is laidback and uplifting.

A beautiful young woman with more musical moxy than most sixteen year olds, Karina Pasian has constructed one of the finest debut discs in years. Melancholic and truthful, funky and real, blissful and bold, Karina's album is the sound of a better tomorrow.

...as if she can be 63% pregnant, or maybe she's just 29% pregnant?!

Word on the curb is that Beyonce is expecting.
A source close to the couple revealed, "Beyonce is 100% pregnant, which is why the couple rushed their wedding." The source also told Hollyscoop that all the friends and family that attended the ultra private wedding were all aware that Beyonce was already expecting.

Our source added that Beyonce is in her early stages, but don’t expect this star to come out with a confirmation statement anytime soon.
Err...Ummm...Ionno 'bout all that! Time will tell I guess but I always think she is a bit too calculated to do that.

Beyonce is however back in the studio, working Tricky Stewart ["Umbrella" producer] who says she is cranking out an unheard of 3 to 4 songs per day. As for a newlywed duet, nothing recorded as yet but don't count it out.

Some gossip is somewhat believable, but Mimi and Nick secretly married? Please stop with the plum foolery...

The NY Post says Carey married little-screen actor Nick Cannon at the home Carey just bought in Eleuthera, the Bahamas, a source close to the singer said.

"They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks," the friend said. "And she's always had a crush on him."

I call Pop Fiction on this...She's rocking the same ring that Selita Ebanks had! The worst is they say it was with no pre-nup...*side-eye* Mariah is 39, Nick is 27.

UPDATE: E! Online is reporting that Nick's stepmother is confirming the marriage..."Yes, we know," she says. "He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him."
