I can't pretend like I been jocking Janelle Monae like others have, but I always thought her style was out there and I honestly was concerned that Diddy would eff up her ish. Her video for "Many Moons" is pretty hot though. Very Outkast-eque. As I was watching and saw some of the shots of her in different looks, I realized how classically pretty she is. My theory is that she chose to go completely left field to not be just another cute chick in the game from Kansas City. Her voice is great though, her style is fresh.

Check out a look at behind the scenes after the jump...

Reagan Gomez covers the November issue of King Magazine.
Fall back, Sarah Palin—cinnamon starlet Reagan Gomez is our all-American mom. She dishes takeout in T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” video, but proves here that her political savvy is flavorful. Talk about raising the bar.
Funny, I was just flipping through the channels and saw her on "The Parent'hood" which I haven't seen in ions and thought about how far she has come.

T.I. made an appearance in New York at the Music in Motion Tour Party at Marquee, along with a few other notables. The Patrón Music in Motion Tour was a concert series that raised funds to support efforts to rebuild New Orleans that rolled across the country this summer.

According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson's condition. [SOURCE]

Hopefully it isn't anything serious, but has just not be her week, since I hear that J.D. upchucked his birthday cake all on her at his party. That's just nasty!

Jennifer Hudson made an appearance on "The View" today to promote her self titled album that debuts today, and she gushed over he wedding and that Neil Lane gigantor engagement ring! Funny how they just skimmed over his former gig as a New York loving punk, named "Punk!" I like how she threw out his Harvard education... LOL.

“I had no clue at all… We went to the beach during the day and he blindfolded me… and he gave me a purple shovel, because purple’s my favourite colour… and I had to dig.

“I ended up digging through all this sand. When I found it, it was like a bunch of beautiful cards… one related to the other, and the last one said, ‘Look around, take the moment in, turn around and I have a gift for you.’”

It's like Smith Family World Domination! Jada Pinkett-Smith looks chic and gorgeous on the cover of Jet Magazine.
When she landed her first major role as feisty freshman Lena James on the sitcom “A Different World” Jada Pinkett was cocky and a know-it-all. Today, 17 years later, as half of one of Hollywood’s power couples, Jada Pinkett Smith (Will Smith’s wife) sees herself–and her world – differently.
Wow, has it been 17 years? I feel old! She aged with "style and grace" though.

This pic of a man giving Rihanna the side-eye outside a KFC in L.A. is priceless. With his beer and paper, she stolls by in her stillettos and leather jacket. And what is up with Ri-Ri and her KFC runs with Chris Brown. How does she stay so itty bitty eating fast food like this? Must be nice.

Oh and I did not get the memo that ruffled light denim skirts made it back to the fashion scene!

This is Barack Obama's first ad after the presidential debate that happened Friday.

My take: Barack Obama won the debate (most major polls agree), though it wasn't a complete knock out. That is because it was poorly moderated and the topics were on John McCain's playing field. I think that the economy should have been address longer.

Plus, John McCain and his creepy laugh and fugly smirk gave me nightmares!

Every new R&B crooner says they are here to bring R&B back, but once you listen to Raphael Saadiq's newest album The Way I See It, you will see that he is bringing real R&B in its original form. From Motown to Curtis Mayfield, Raphael tapped into some of the best sounds in the era of true R&B. It's like a period piece as an ode to the greats.

His debut single, "Love That Girl" possesses a sense of Smokey Robinson and transports you to the late 50s when the kids gathered at the local community center for dances. In an love song about a New Orleans miss, the trumpet-heavy "Big Easy" features the renowned brass band, The Rebirth Band. Even Stevie Wonder makes an appearance in the soulful "Never Give Up." One of my favorites, "Sure Hope You Mean It" is eerily reminiscent of The Temptations and his style right out the David Ruffin playbook. To top it off he teams up with Jay-Z for the smooth remix of "Oh Girl."

Touching these classic sounds make the album feel so familiar. If you are a fan of the classics - Motown, Stax, Chi-town, Philly - like me, you will thoroughly enjoy The Way I See It! I had the pleasure of getting the scoop straight from Raphael on making the FAB album, his inspirations, and of course, will there ever be a reunion with Tony! Toni! Tone!?

Jay Z has way of staying on top, so it's no surprise he made the list of New York's Top 40 in Time Out New York’s 40th anniversary issue. In his profile interview he reveals his thing for Diana Ross, working with Nas, and still keeps mum about wife Beyonce.
What about favorite moments?
Jay-Z: Damn.

What comes to mind?
Jay-Z: That’s a difficult one. I always relate it back to music—I don’t have a life outside of that. Playing the Garden, headlining that for the first time, was—Oh! I have my greatest moment! I don’t even know how I forgot this! When I was a teenager, early teenage years—maybe later, I went to see Diana Ross in Central Park, in the rain, the infamous “in the rain.” And it started raining and everyone started running. And I’m running and slid down the entire hill. Oh, it was the greatest day.

Diana was pretty hot. Were you old enough to—
Jay-Z: Yeah, I had hormones. I thought she was fantastic. Her hair was blowing. The rain was hitting her face, and her outfit was, well—It was working for me. And she really braved it out, still trying to go in a torrential rainstorm. I don’t know who said “run,” but everyone started running. I don’t even know—me and my friend. I don’t know what two guys were doing at a Diana Ross concert, but [Laughs] anyway, I think we was already in the city, okay? We slid, got up and kept running to the train.

You’re the only rapper on this list. We were considering Nas but have this 13-year rule: People on this list had to have had an impact in the last 13 years. And Illmatic was 1994. Should we have included him?
Jay-Z: Ah, wow! [Laughs] That’s a tough question. [Pauses] Yeah, only because of the impact of that album, when it’s considered one of the best albums ever created, you have to document that.

And B? What was your first meeting with your wife like?
Jay-Z: I can’t answer that question. [Laughs] Come on now.

Seriously? You guys wrote a song about being in love.
Jay-Z: I’m actually pretty open, especially in the music. And in conversation, when I get to know people. But there’s one side of my life I tend to keep quiet. You have to have some time of sanity. You can’t live with everything out there. You have to have sanctuary.
Diana Ross = Deena James, he must had fun with that! But I am amazed at him and Bey's have been so closed tight about there relationship. When dating, I get it, but the silent treatment about being married is just slightly weird. But it keeps up guessing and on the look out for any little sign of their marriage. I think they are strategically planning to keep it all private so they can write a book or something and cash in on the details!

Read the full interview here.

In other Jay Z news, both 50 Cent and Oasis has recently taken shots at him!

According to PR-Inside.com, 50 Cent claims Beyonce made Jay Z saying, "I'm a big fan of Jay-Z, but outside of the States and hip-hop circles, no one really knew who he was until he married Beyonce." I don't know, 50 is starting to sound real bitchy lately. It's not becoming of him at all.

Now remember when Jay Z played Gastonbury, to the criticism of the festival fave Oasis, and he came out singing Oasis' "Wonderwall?" Well they came back, a little late though, with a whole diss track! This is just plain laughable. Pop on Rap Beef? Listen to the song here.

Too much time on their hands...

Just to get you up to speed since I didn't post about it when the drama began... After the cover of Ciara nekkid on Vibe Magazine came out, word was that she was planning sue Vibe for photoshopping her clothes off, which turned out to be just a rumor.

Vibe Editor-in-Chief, Danyel Spencer, defended the cover, saying that Ciara was nude according to staff on set [despite Ciara's claims that she wasn't] and that she came to Vibe wanting to be “grown up and free.” LISTEN TO THE FULL AUDIO HERE. Vibe isn't Time Magazine or anything, but I can't imagine that she would take the legal risk of photoshopping the clothes off a person. Ciara was airbrushed, but that's standard... Danyel says that she has the original untouched photos to prove it, but won't release them.

So now, MTV recently caught up with Ciara and she still singing the same tune that she wasn't naked. She says she had on underwear... In a video posted from on set of the photoshoot, she said he had fun with the "suggestive nudity" which I just saw another show this weekend, and means you are naked but you cover the private places with hands, ect. However, she feel as though the cover was misleading.
I think, at this point, I'd rather just be quiet about things such as that but I definitely want to make it clear that I was going in to do something artistic, and I was upset that when I saw the photos, everything was gone," the singer told MTV News last weekend, from the set of her forthcoming music video for "Go Girl," which features a cameo from T-Pain. "It's very, very upsetting and somewhat misleading."
It seems like she knew what she was getting into though, but you know how they say any publicity is good publicity!

Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane [yeah, she's a sista with a name like Bensonetta] in the child support and custody case between T.I. and LaShon Dixon has ordered him to increase his monthly payments and for them to have joint custody of the 2 boys. The slight increase from $2000 to just over $3000 in support and time with the boys seems to be more of a win for T.I. LaShon originally asked for $10,000. Hmph... T.I. has publicly defended his financial support of his boys.
Tipton Lane also awarded the couple on Tuesday joint custody of the boys, ages 7 and 8. Dixon, 28, was granted primary physical custody. The children previously spent about 40 percent of their time with the rapper.

Dixon's attorney, Randy Kessler, said his client is still unsatisfied with the amount the judge ordered T.I. to pay but is happy to receive more child support.

"Every little bit helps," Kessler said. "She was just getting by with the children, while they lived a different life with their father. It can't be complete opposites on the other side." [SOURCE]
Note to LaShon: Get a job and provide the boys the lifestyle you want them to have by doing it yourself. I wish I got $3000 a month, plus schooling, medical, and extracurricular activities. I make it on my own income every month, no formal child support. Child support is for children not your lifestyle, that would be alimony and since you weren't married, well, sorry for ya! This just gives mothers a bad rap, like they are more concern with the men supporting their life, not the children. It just seems lazy to me.

It only took 14 months and an album flop for Janet Jackson to pack up and leave Island Def Jam. Janet previously expressed disappointment with the promotion of Discipline, namely the lack of singles released after the debut single "Feedback." I can understand being tiffed about that, but on the label side, it wasn't the best album and it was poorly received on the charts. No amount of promotion can fix that. It only sold 415,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and spent just 14 weeks on the chart.

According to Billboard, the label agreed to dissolve their relationship with the artist at her request. Now, Jackson "will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system," reads a statement from her team. "Always known to break new ground and set trends, Janet's departure from Island makes her one of the first superstar artists to have the individual freedom to promote their work through a variety of avenues such as iTunes, mobile carriers and other diverse and innovative channels."

Janet is current on her "Rock Wit U" Tour with LL Cool J and Donnie Klang...

According to CNN, Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein were in critical condition with extensive burns Saturday after a jet crash the night before that killed four people, authorities said.

Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said all the dead were Californians. He identified them as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad; Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City; and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles.

The Learjet 60 crashed on takeoff at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at 11:53 p.m. Friday.

Beth Frits, spokeswoman at the Joseph Still Burn Center, in Augusta, Georgia, said Barker and Goldstein arrived at the hospital early Saturday. She said both men had "extensive burns."

Eye witness, William Owens was driving down a highway next to the airport when he said he saw a fireball go across the road. He told local TV station WIS News 10:

"I didn't know what I had seen — it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet," Owens said.

Owens then described what he saw as he tried to make it to the wreckage.

"It's in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway," Owens said.

Owens said the two men were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He then asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they said four more were with them.

"We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do," Owens said.
Barker and Goldstein had played at a huge free outdoor concert in Columbia's Five Points district on Friday night.

Thoughts and prayers to the families and a speedy recovery for the injured.

UPDATE: Doctor: Travis Barker & DJ AM Expected to Recover

Read more after the jump...

The medical director of the Georgia burn center where the two are being treated after their escape from a fiery plane crash around midnight Friday said Sunday morning that both critically injured men are expected to make full recoveries.

Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta said at a press conference that former Blink 182 drummer Barker, 32, and DJ Am (real name: Adam Goldstein), 35, are being treated for second- and third-degree burns.

Mullins says recovery from such burns can take as long as a year but says that the men suffered no other injuries, adding: "Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected." [PEOPLE]

Lil' Wayne interviews are the best... they are never the same and he says some of the funniest ish! In this month's XXL Magazine he talks about how "wack" No Limit was [in retrospect...agreed] and how reading is not fundemental to him!
Was there a mutual respect between Cash Money and No Limit?
I think the fact that No Limit was so wack helped us, literally. ‘Cuz they was wack and they was big and they represented New Orleans. So that automatically makes someone else from New Orleans get looked at and we was right up next. They started comparing, which was the best thing that could have happened for us. Once they started comparing they saw that there was no comparison. We have skills we could really rap, we could really do what we doing. [Master P] had a trillion rappers that probably one of them could rap and that was Mystical…and Solider Slim, they didn’t get him ‘til after. So I thank them for being so garbage.

What are you reading right now to help you…
I don’t read a damn thing. That’s why I don’t write music. I’m too cool to be reading and writing…I’m a very intelligent nigga. I can read like a motherfucka. I don’t want motherfuckas to think I’m illiterate.

You’re in college so…

I don’t read, other than that shit.

But we talking about books for leisure.
Nah, I’ve done that like once or twice. It’s just not my thing. I’m not into made-up stories.
Love it, that No Limit quotable is priceless... Funny thing is, Lil Wayne is really a smart dude. He has been making the right moves, musically at least, so you just have to respect his genius.

When people see you in the tabloids and blogs, they tend to think—
Aubrey O’Day: —that I’m a ho, a dumb blonde girl.

How many Danity Kane albums are you locked in for?
Aubrey O’Day: Seven, not including holiday and live albums.

So when people hear you’re best friends with Jenna Jameson, they think—
Aubrey O’Day: —I’m going to do sex tapes and porn. Jenna and I never even talk about porn. I think one time Jenna and I had a conversation about having sex on your period.

Oh, running a red light?
Aubrey O’Day: Yeah. There was some new guy I was dating, and it was the first time we were going to go there, and he was weird about it. So I ask Jenna for advice and she’s like, “Honey, it’s just a little war paint, who cares?”

Still, the first time...
Aubrey O’Day: Yeah, that’s what I was saying.

I guess you could just throw a towel down.
Aubrey O’Day: Ha! Yeah, I’m totally a towel girl. [Laughs.]

You seem to like to talk about sex.
Aubrey O’Day: I love porn.

Everyone who watched the waste of airtime on BET with R. Kelly in his "first and last" post-trial interview on BET, I'm sure had the same WTF look I had! I just am not a fan of Toure as a correspondent and he didn't ask anything we really wanted to know... but he did ask one question worth hearing the answer to, but the response was one that R. Kelly could have kept!!

"When you say underage, how old are we talking 'bout?" The look on Toure's face is priceless! Jesus be a dictionary!

Plus he said people "always have 'pinions 'bout him..." 'pinions?? I can't be bothered!

Funkmaster Flex clearly feels the same way and posted a video blog calling R. Kelly out. Or should I say R.O.B., that what he says is his new moniker. Check it out after the jump!

Jennifer Hudson and Fanstasia on one song...that's pretty awesome especially since the American Idol alums have battled rumors of high competition, namely the role of Effie in Dreamgirls. Howeverm, both have powerful voices and they both bring it on this new track from Jennifer's upcoming album called "I'm His Only Woman!"

The song is like "The Boy is Mine" meets Barbara Mandrell's "Woman to Woman." First they were fighting for the title of American Idol, now they are fighting for a man... *dead* @ "If this was 10 years ago, I would be at your front door ready to beat your ass!"

I've been raving about Charice since her YouTube videos started floating around about a year ago. Ellen found her and brought her to the US, then Oprah discovered her and she just took off! Last week I posted about her follow up interview with Oprah and she annouced that she would get to sing with her ultimate duet, Celine Dion, at Madison Square Garden.

My eye welled up again watching her dream come true singing "Because You Loved Me" and that voice is just heart-stopping!

I hear Oprah has agreed to manage her career, but I think that is a rumor... No official word but she is working with hit maker David Foster, so I believe she is in good hands!

Bottom line, child support is to support the expenses related to the children, not to support your lifestyle or shopping habit. Granted, I think it should be a certain percentage of your income, but I think $2000 per month is more than enough to support 2 boys. I'm just saying...

T.I. and his lawyer posted the below response to the recent media attention surrounding the new child support case brought against him by the mother of his two boys Domani and Massiah, Lashon Dixon. He strikes me a well involved father as he claims to be.

Here is a snippet of the response:
To clarify the recent reports, in addition to the $2000 per month I pay in cash to Lashon Dixon, the mother of my sons Domani and Messiah, I also pay for their private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities. Their extra-curricular activities have included football, basketball, baseball, acting lessons, summer camp, and any other activities that they express a desire to be involved in that will contribute to them leading balanced lives and developing into well rounded individuals. I have also made an attempt to help Lashon with additional payments that have included a down payment to purchase her home, purchase of an automobile for her transportation and other financial obligations. These expenses are documented and are far in excess of the $2000 cash payment that is being paid direct to Lashon. She has chosen not to work and to live 100% from her child support receipts. This is the reason for her difficulties in making ends meet for herself.
Read the full release after the jump...

"A lot of deceiving information has been reported regarding my recent child support proceeding. It is unfortunate that the media has been used to manipulate the circumstances and distort the facts. Those that know me, all know that there is nothing more important to me than my children. I have always supported all of my children financially, emotionally, and spiritually. This has always been the case and I will continue to do so in the future as this is my responsibility as a parent.

Not only do I support my boys 100% financially, I am also committed to their emotional and spiritual growth. While I would enjoy the luxury of being present for all of my children’s activities, unfortunately the demands of my career and the need to secure my family’s financial security as well as insuring my kid’s personal growth dictates that I travel constantly and work tirelessly. Despite my hectic schedule, I make it a priority to be present for important occasions in their lives. This includes being home for their birthdays, school functions and being present at as many of their extra-curricular activities as I am able. I also am available to them at all times to provide guidance and support as a father regardless of my schedule or location. They are my first priority.

Again, there is nothing more important to me than my children. This is demonstrated by my effort to support them in every way that I can. Any reasonable person knowing the facts would conclude that all of my children’s needs are being far exceeded. My support of them in every way is documented and cannot be legitimately challenged.

I believe that it is every parent’s responsibility to provide unconditional love and support for their kids. I have made every attempt to do so for my boys. Again, I provide 100% of their financial support. I should only be judged for my actions and not Lashon’s conscience decision not to work and not to contribute to the financial support of our boys." One, I love Tina Fey and Amy Pohler together, they are hilarious. Two, I like the other millions of people thought Tina Fey was a dead ringer of Sarah Palin. NBC was smart and probably paid Tina a shitload of money to come back to Saturday Night Live to portray the GOP veep nominee for the season premiere. Money well spent, Tina had Palin down, accent and everything.

I am not feeling this little unexpected, long rumored couple. Damn the stereotypical "get famous, drop long time fiance." Punk is such a... punk and he is so oogey. I mean he went on a reality show to date New York. RED FLAG, RED FLAG! Maybe that's why they've been sneaking and dodging the camera...

But hey, whatever floats your boat and finds your lost remote. Who knows, maybe James couldn't handle it. Either way Jennifer and Punk are now reportedly engaged. [Insert SEOD Here]

According to People.com, "I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A." says the rep.

Otunga, who is known as "Punk" from the reality show I Love New York 2, popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond ring on the Dreamgirls Oscar winner's 27th birthday.

The couple, who have been dating less than a year, both hail from Chicago.

The ring? Jennifer was sporting this lovely piece at the Tribute to Patti LaBelle...

In other Jennifer Hudson news, she just dropped another song from her upcoming album, called "Pocketbook" featuring Ludacris. Produced by Timbaland and Beanz, it's a uptempo sassy song with a more hip hop feel. I guess it's a new thing and that's not bad. Definitely a different sound than we've heard so far from the album.

Okay, I've held my tongue on this, but I call for an intervention! I really think Kanye West has some deep underlying issues since his mother's passing. I'm no psychologist but hasn't been the same since. He worked himself tireless on the tour, I saw him live and he leave every bit of him on the stage. That has got to be draining. Then the ending of his engagement shortly after, though it seems they have reunited.

Now, he and his assistant went completely Billy Blanks on a paparazzi at LAX and gets arrested!! Damn 'Ye!

Continue reading to get the full scoop on what went down...including the 2 cameras, count 'em 2, that were smashed!

Kanye West and his bodyguard, Don Crowley, were arrested at LAX this morning, the LAX Police Department has confirmed to Access Hollywood, which was the first news outlet to break the news online today.

The incident took place at 7:51 AM this morning at the entrance to the security checkpoint for American Airlines at Terminal 4. The two were en route to Honolulu at the time.

According to an eyewitness on the scene who spoke with Access, the incident began when Kanye approached a camera that was being aimed at him by a photographer.

According to the gossip Web site TMZ.com, the paparazzo was attempting to photograph the rap star, when Kanye allegedly confronted the photographer, grabbing his camera (reportedly valued at over $10,000) and smashing it to the ground. Kanye then smashed another piece of the camera, possibly the flash, to the ground.

A TMZ videographer named Erik, who was also present, was attempting to videotape Kanye and the photographer, when Don (the bodyguard) grabbed TMZ's video camera. A struggle reportedly ensued between Don and Erik.

Airport security intervened and took Don and the photographer aside, and spoke to both of them, later releasing them both.

Kanye then approached the photographer again, getting "in his face," Access' witness said. A group of flight attendants also saw Kanye confront the photographer again, according to the witness.

According to TMZ, Kanye then tried to board his plane, but overheard police talking with Erik about whether or not he had filmed the incident.

Kanye reportedly then approached Erik demanding the tape, yelling, "Gimme that f****** videotape," which caused Erik's camera to smash to the ground (yes, this was the 2nd camera smashed to the ground)!

As the incident escalated, approximately eight LAX police officers apprehended Kanye, putting him in handcuffs, and took him and Don into custody, according to Access' witness.

According to Access' witness, LAX police did not detain either photographer. The witness also noted that due to the anniversary of 9-11, police presence at the airport appeared to be higher than normal.

Kanye and Don were taken to the LAPD Pacific Division where they were booked and charged with felony vandalism.

According to LAX Police, "Airport Police had initially received the call as also involving a potential battery. However, following initial investigation, it was determined that no battery occurred."

An LAX traffic cop told an Access producer on site that Kanye and his entourage will be returning to get on another American Airlines flight, after they're booked. The next direct flights departing LAX for Honolulu are at 3:20 PM and 6:40 PM.

Luda's new album Theater Of The Mind is scheduled to be released later this year, but it may be his final album. For a while at least. Word is he is looking to hang up his rap hat to pursue a career in acting full time.

He recent told The Los Angles Times, “I can see a point where acting is my full-time job, really. I will always be involved in music, but it may be more behind the scenes, as a producer, I will always do that. But when I look at 10 years from now, I don’t think rapping is necessarily what I want to do when I’m in my 40s.

Boy, what the studio and a vocoder will do for you! I am totally convinced that this is an ode to ex-fiance Alexis Phifer, who is now back in Kanye's life. See pics of them out at Knitting Factory last night at Str8 Outta NYC where my girl LexAve caught the reunited lovebirds booed up in VIP.

After catching a little flack to returning to MTV, since he publically denounced the award show last year, he left a tweet on Twitter, saying "It's not about the moonman." My guess it was about his public display of affection for Alexis. I find that to be absolutely sweet as pie...

His album is set to be released December 16th and is called 808’s and Heartbreak. Hmmm... sounds like it's real personal and was a release of all his emotions from the traumatic year he's add. They say good art comes from true pain!

Serena Williams had to take out big sis Venus to win her ninth grand slam title, and her third U.S. Open! Get it girl!
Displaying the talent and tenacity that allowed her to dominate tennis earlier in the decade, Williams outlasted Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 7-5 Sunday night in a thrill-a-minute match chock full of marvelous strokes and momentum swings to win her third U.S. Open championship and ninth Grand Slam title.

"Every one is so exciting, believe me," Williams said. "This is cool because I'm at No. 9. I'm pushing the doors closer to double digits, which of course I want to get to."

And there was this "added bonus," as Williams termed it: She returns to the top of the rankings.

"I think this title meant more to Serena than any title she's ever won," her father and coach, Richard Williams said. [via SI]

Rihanna - Disturbia
...and the vocals are a bit disturbing at times. We still have some work to do, boo!

First, MTV is clearly struggling! If this is what you get on the 25th anniversary, then I have less hope for the future. The venue was odd to me, too. I like some of the match up on performance, especially Leona Lewis on Weezy's "Misunderstood" and T.I. with Rihanna. It seemed like they are relying on just the performance to carry the show. Russell Brand was okay as host, there have been much worse, like say Marlon and Shawn Wayans.

I can just remember when this show was the hottest thing all year, now it's like TRL on crack... The awards are pure BS staged winners. Come on, Britney takes home 3 moonmen. I mean I'm happy the girl is getting her life together, but I am sure her promo commercials were paid partly in moonmen.

T Pain riding in on a horse should have been a sign of what the night was to bring! This years VMAs brought out lots of black, silver, and new hair. Some worked, some didn't! But for the most part, there were no huge fashion faux pas. Just a few question marks!

I give the best in show award to new mommy Christina Aguilera, for her great post-baby body, new sleek hair [I'm so over the big curly afro] and the awesomely fabulous eye makeup! Must try one day...

Jordin Sparks stuck to her normal girl next door, sweet as pie prom dress look. Works for her! Keri Hilson is a doll, love her to pieces, the look was a bit too trend heavy. The frosted tips, the nails, the shoes, all a bit too much that it takes away from that strikingly hot dress.

Akon clearly has fan issues. At a concert in Guyana, South America this past weekend Akon thought it would be a blast to body surf across the crowd to another stage, but by the time he made it he seemed a bit frustrated and knock some chick clean off the stage with a 1-2 combo!

Rest assure, you won't find me at an Akon concert. I prefer to hear my live music violence free!

Usher was tapped to be in the NFL Kickoff Concert at Columbus Circle in NYC and a show is clearly what he gave them. If you missed it, then no worries because he recently announced his new, strictly-for-the-ladies "One Night Stand" tour. I thought with his new found status in life that it would be a "for-married-dudes-only" kind of tour...

Maybe that's what has Tameka in a tizzy now, as today Stella Foster of The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the young marriage is on the rocks...Surprise Surprise!
Usher reportedly has separated from his much older wife, Tameka Foster, who reportedly is expecting their second child in December.
I heard whispers of this about the same time that Mama Patton returned her momager duties. I would be surprised if it's true, but I doubt he'd admit to it right now.

Check out more flicks from the show...

Beyonce stuns on the cover of the October issue of British Marie Claire Magazine. I see she is working her way back into the spotlight as she prepares to release another album and hit the road on another world tour. Could she stop and have some babies after that? We want little Bey-Zs running around.

Happy B'Day to her, today Beyonce turns 27! I wonder what Jay got her? What do you give the woman that has it all? Didn't he already do the Bentley... *Sigh*

Well, here are are few sound bites from her cover story where she opens up about work, her weight, and being an icon...

On why she uses her alter ego 'Sasha':
"Things I do when I am performing I would never do normally" "I always wish I could feel the way I do on stage when I'm doing a movie because I have out of body experiences…I'm so fearless."

On who her song 'Irresistible' is about:

"The obvious person is not the person at all."

Continue reading for more quotables and shots from her layout!

On being a pop star:
"There is a time limit on being a pop star yes, being a legend, an icon, absolutely not" "I'm over being a popstar, I don't wanna be a hot girl I wanna be iconic" "There are responsibilities that come along with this life…trying to have a romantic meal without someone sneaking in to film the whole thing. I have to work really hard and it's fine because I like it, I love it, but it's a lot of sacrifice."

On being a role model:
"I think I'm opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me."

On Barack Obama:

"I'm really proud, I think we're making a bit of progress, it's an exciting time. We all feel part of our country now."

On being aware of her legacy:
"I look at every day as part of my history. That's how I weed out things I want to do and things I don't want to do."

On her personality:
"I'm really reserved, but if I'm walking into a room and I'm making an appearance, I'm working. I'm ready to be entertaining."

So you know I was hurt when I couldn't drop this off sooner, seeing that I am all about J. Holiday, but Gustav had me hemmed up in the country without a computer to work with. Anyhow, here we have a new track from J. Holiday titled "Fly" which is in the same vain as Mariah Carey's "Butterfly," having to let that person go... Been there, done that, got the shot glass!

It a slow ballad, and of course I love his vocals, I'm a huge fan of his voice. He recently hit up MySpace to say that he is currently working on his new album, the new single was set to drop in October, but someone may have beat him to it. Oh well, I love the joint.

It has all come to a crashing halt as Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick has entered a deal to plea guilty to two felony counts of obstruction of justice by committing perjury. Kwame has embattled over a year of political drama, a text message scandal and criminal charges. The end result: 120 days in jail, 5 years probation, his resignation as Mayor, the loss of his ability to practice law, and to pay whopping $1 million in restitution!

He can not run for office during those 5 years and will turn over his state pension to the City of Detroit, which paid $8.4 million to settle two whistle-blower lawsuits three former cops filed against the city.
Kwame told the court: "I lied under oath in the case of Gary Brown and Harold Nelthrope versus the city of Detroit ... I did so with the intent to mislead the court and jury, to impede and obstruct the disposition of justice." [SOURCE]
All because he lied under oath, trying to hide one thing, which inturn uncovered his sorted affair with his Chief of Staff Christine Beatty [who hasn't entered a plea and will appear in court Sept. 11th]. This is one of the fundamental things we teach children, that covering a lie with another lie, with another lie, only makes it worse.

It's disappointing because it paints young, African American politicians in such a horrible light. As if we can't hold an executive position without scandal and abuse of power.

As they say...IT'S SO COLD IN THE D!

That song is going to haunt her for the rest of her life, but anyway Ciara dropped it all for the cover (and inside feature) of the October issue of Vibe Magazine. Named the "Sexiest Singer Alive" she is working to release her next album, Fantasy Ride.

A new track, said to be her first single "Go Girl" featuring T-Pain has also leaked. CHECK IT HERE. The cover shows a new colorful look as well, though her mag cover is more classic Ciara. I wonder if she is planning on switching modes. We all know a good makeover can do wonders for your career.

So Brandy's with her first video in what seems like forever, for the single "Departed (Right Here)" playing a guardian angel. I see Tia Mowery's hubby Corey Hardrict getting his video acting on. It's a pretty simple video, though. Love love love the shoes too!

Hey people! So I made it home and it's not looking to fabulous. I am looking at 2 weeks without electricity. Trees and lines are down everywhere!

I was blessed that I had no major damage, though I had a huge tree (see the picture) hit my roof narrowly missing my patio doors. So no glass broken, no flooding, nothing major! Thank the Lord. Some of my neighbors weren't so lucky, 2 on my streets has trees fall on their homes! I almost didn't recognize my subdivision when I drove through it.

So I'm going to be in and out for awhile, but I'm already having blog withdrawals! Bare with me...

So unless you live in a pineapple under the sea, then you know the Louisiana gulf coast was hit by hurricane Gustav. So that meant I had to evacuate too. Sucks ass, I know.

So I've been in North Mississippi waiting it out and am so ready to go home. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure what I'm going be going home to but I hope to have electricity and Internet access at home as soon as possible! I've been working with only my iPhone so I think I am having withdrawls!

Anyhow, just wanted to let y'all know the deal! Talk to you soon.
