Life has been pretty good for British soul chanteuse Corinne Bailey Rae. Her sterling, self-titled debut has already earned her slots on 'Saturday Night Live,' Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien in recent weeks. But the appearance that tops them all happened last week when she met her idol, Stevie Wonder.
"[That was] probably the biggest thing that's happened so far," she tells AOL Music of sitting in on the soul superstar's radio show. "He was talking on behalf of everybody at the station and he said, 'We love your music, we love your writing, we love your voice.' Getting these compliments from somebody who's the best writer and the best singer -- it was just mind-blowing, really."
Things didn't stop there, either. In addition to the kind words, Wonder invited Bailey Rae to take part in one of his shows, Dec. 15 in Los Angeles. "I've been invited to play at this charity benefit that he does for young people," she enthuses. "You just do it! You get one chance and you say 'Yeah!'"
As for what she might perform on the show, Bailey Rae says she's hoping for a Wonder-ful duet. "I think he does come onstage with people in the gig," she says. "I'd love that to happen."
