Robin Thicke is gearing up to release his third album Something Else on September 3rd, which he describes as a cross between “classic Philly, Motown and ’70s black disco meets the creativity of the Beatles and Bob Dylan. It just felt to me that a lot of stuff out there sounds the same. It’s a time for change, for something else.”

Being the modern son of Blue-Eyed Soul who has crossed music lines, race is never far from his mind he tells Billboard, “What’s great about the bigger cities are the numbers of interracial couples who come,” he said. (The singer-songwriter, who is white, is married to actress Paula Patton, who is black.) Thicke added, “I’m seeing a cross between the girls who want to come out and have fun and the couples who come to enjoy a loving environment.”

Make sure to look for Robin on his current promo tour with Keri Hilson as well as his major tour with Mary J. Blige starting in October...

The sight of Michael Jackson in his pajama pants and tuxedo coat at Planet Hollywood in Vegas is plain ol' scary! The freshly pressed hair and Jackie O shade are fierce though, he must keep a CHI in his Transformers backpack.

Michael turn 50 years old tomorrow...which I'm sure is 17 in Wacko Jacko world. One day I hope he gets it together. If you ever wondered what Michael would look like had he stayed away from the knife, check this out!

Is it just me or has Rihanna been quite the sourpuss lately? Just not giving the paps any love these days. She headed out last night with the girls to hang with Leonardo DiCaprio at CocoDeVille in L.A. The dress is another winner for her as is the burgundy streaks. The crew later hit up The Villa Lounge... Word is they were invited to a private party at Leo's and partied until about 2 a.m.

They pulled a total Bey-Z move, hiding behind umbrellas -ellas -ellas. Check the video here.

So when your busy getting flip with the news anchor, you clearly forget to watch everything you say... so you also get caught slipping calling Jay Z your "brother-in-law." Tsk Tsk, Solo! You see, she didn't realize that the anchor asked for permission to discuss the other Knowles family star and Jay Z while the cameras were off... Maybe a little time with Beyonce PR trainer will help, you know Beyonce wasn't always so polished! Just saying...

In other Jay Z news, the Vegas 40/40 Club bombs and closes after just a short nine months, but after reading this review, I see why!

Love these... Fat Joe rocked the custom Obama Air Force Ones at the MySpace @ DNC spot. They were created by an artist named Van out of Cleveland. He does custom work on Air Force Ones that are pretty damn fly, especially the Darfur joints...

Make sure you check out his MySpace Page.

David Banner was all smiles during his visit to TRL promoting his new album, The Greatest Story Ever Told, performing his single "Shorty Say." The workout plan and shave has been a total upgrade for your boy... he's been preserving his sexy, I see.

Vanessa and Angela Simmons were spotted showcasing their Pastry clothing and shoe line at the MAGIC convention in Las Vegas. The line seems to have really taken off, and the shoes are actually pretty hot. I'd rock 'em! I think they found a niche market in the shoe world...

Barack Obama makes history, being the first African American to win the Democratic Nomination by acclimation today at the DNC.
“With eyes firmly fixed on the future, in the spirit of unity, with the goal of victory, with faith in our party and our country, let’s declare together in one voice, right here, right now, that Barack Obama is our candidate and he will be our president,” Clinton said, setting off a loud celebration Obama’s nomination became official.
I honestly wasn't sure it would happen in my day and age, but now I feel even more confident telling my young son that he truly can do anything he wants to do in life.

This is a time of great significance! I am so looking forward to tomorrow, I know his speech is going to be moving and fabulous.

T.I. brought it all out for Paper Trail, teaming up with some of the hottest artists in the industry. His album is so anticipated that tracks are leaking daily! His collaboration with Rihanna, "Live Your Life" taps into her rocker girl style. It catches your attention from the top.

Maybe they'll be performing this on the VMA and not "Swagger Like Us" or maybe both? Hmmm... I like it though!

A new Keri Hilson tracked also leaked, a slow ballad called "Slow Dance." The track is smooth, it reminds me Ciara's "Promise" a little, but her vocals are on point. I could see this as a single for her. The song was produced by The Royal Court.

Public court records can tell it all! TMZ snagged more details on Alexis Miller and her knack for filing restraining orders and being on the receiving end.
We got hold of court papers flied last year by Lakisha Renae Hall. A judge ordered Miller to stay 500 yards away from Hall and have no contact with her.

And the plot thickens. Shaq is not the only one who incurred Miller's wrath. In October 2007, Miller tried getting a restraining order against Jonathan Stubbs, claiming he stalked her -- once pulling out a gun, shooting it once and yelling, "Who were you with?" That petition was dismissed because Miller never followed through.
Drama drama drama. Shaq should know better than to mess with the crazy ones!

Very sad news... The name sake of Dr. Dre, Andre Young Jr., was found dead by his mother over the weekend at his home in Woodland Hills, California, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office. He was just 20 years old.
Andre Young Jr. was out with friends Friday night and his mother later found him "unresponsive in bed" when she tried to wake him early Saturday morning, coroner's spokesman Ed Winter told Reuters. She immediately called paramedics, who later pronounced Young dead at the scene.

"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time," said a statement released by his spokeswoman.

An autopsy was conducted and the cause of death is still pending toxicology and other tests, which may take six weeks or more, Winter said. [SOURCE]

The future First Lady, Michelle Obama took to the stage of the Democratic National Convention in Denver last night giving a moving and inspiring address describing herself as a sister, a mom, a wife and a daughter, someone who loves her country and has tried to give back to it. Michelle talked not just of the candidate who could be president but of the guy she married.

It was emotional! You can see in women's eyes as they watch her speak, the realization of a dream that many didn't think was possible. It was definitely a joy to see her stand there with poise and grace and an sense of strength. Of course she looked fabulous, the hair was whippin'!

Rihanna was spotted waiting for her boo Chris Brown in Hollywood, and it looks like paps were getting a bit annoying to her... until Chris came and they left hand in hand. She looked adorable and casual in her sun dress and chucks.

Word is Rihanna may have been on set to play CB's leading lady in his next video... Hmmm? Sounds like they just can't be apart. So much that there's another rumor that they have taken their relationship from "close" to roommates.

You'd think that she'd be pretty happy right now, preparing to hit the stage with T.I. at the VMA, her single "Disturbia" is still topping the charts, and even though word is she is broke, she's been getting much retail therapy!

John Legend performed the debut of "If You're Out There" at the Democratic National Convention, as it kicked off today and he was accompanied by the Agape Choir of the International Spiritual Center in Culver City, CA. Beautiful song! Loved it.

Jennifer Hudson has also been tapped to sing the national anthem Thursday, the night Barack Obama is set to address the increasingly star-studded Democratic National Convention for the first time as his party's official candidate for president of the United States.
