CBS FIRES IMUS! RADIO SHOW CANCELLED
XM Radio or Sirius? Anyone need a new shock jock?

I've heard so many sides to this debate from Jessie Jackson on MSNBC to Wendy Williams. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the NAACP, among others, have all issued statements demanding his dismissal. With the enormous amount of growing controversy MSNBC has decided to pull the plug on Imus' syndicated show.

Pressure from advertisers and politicians have mounted on the radio host since he referred to the Rutgers female basketball players as “nappy-headed hos” last week.

MSNBC dropped its simulcast of the “Imus in the Morning” radio program and aired news instead Thursday. The decision did not affect Imus’ nationally syndicated radio show.

His ultimate fate depends on the CBS Corp., which owns both the radio station WFAN-AM that is the host’s broadcast home, and the syndicator Westwood One, which distributes “Imus in the Morning” to stations across the country.

CBS Radio, which has suspended Imus for two weeks without pay beginning next week, said it would “continue to speak with all concerned parties and monitor the situation closely.”
