Bernie Mac was hospitalized in Chicago for pneumonia.

"Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon," his rep says in a statement. "He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well."

The rep says the pneumonia is not related to Mac's diagnosis of sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in organs such as the lungs or lymph nodes.

Let's hope for a speedy recovery and hopefully we'll see Bernie back on stage or TV soon!
