The Good News: Jennifer Hudson has garnered an Oscar Nomination for Best Supporting Actress and with Eddie Murphy for Best Supporting Actor, rounding off the eight nominations!! The most this year for one movie...I am so excited for her, I knew it the night I walked out of the theater! Other nominations include "Listen" for Best Original Song [which Lady should feel good about, because her great voice made the song a winner], Achievement in Sound Mixing, Best Art Direction, and Achievement in Costume Design.


The Bad News: Dreamgirls did not get a nomination for Best Movie. As well as a Beyonce not receiving a nomination for Best Actress, I am actually a bit sad, though not surprised, I would have loved to see another African American woman get at least the honor of a nomination.

“I am deeply honored and humbled that the academy has chosen to recognize my performance in ‘Dreamgirls,”’ Murphy said in a statement. “Without a doubt receiving this nomination will stand out as one of the highlights of my career.”
