When you bust a chick in the face with a bottle and leave permanent scars, you are going to get some jail time. For Da Brat it will be 3 years, and this isn't L.A. where 3 years means 47 minutes in jail... She'll be doing at least 12 months! Damn.

Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. Harris also must get substance abuse treatment and a mental evaluation and attend anger management classes.

“She feels a great deal of remorse for what she did,” said Harris’s lawyer, Thomas Clegg. “She is willing to accept responsibility for what she has done.”

A handful of Harris’s family sat on the back row of the courtroom. They wept when a sheriff’s deputy took her into custody.

“I love y’all,” Harris, 34, said as she was led out of the courtroom.

Previous to the bottle beat down, the victim, an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader named Shayla Stevens who was working as a hostess at Club 72, bumped into Brat who was there for a Halloween Party in 2005. Moments later, she bust Stevens in the head with a nearly full bottle of rum. Stevens fell down some stairs to a cement floor and suffered a severe facial cut.

Steven is also suing Brat in civil court for unspecified medical and other costs.

Da Brat was arrested early Thursday after a dispute at a nightclub.

Witnesses told police the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, got into an argument with a waitress and later hit her over the head with a bottle of rum, Atlanta television station WSB reported.

Da Brat was booked into DeKalb County jail on a charge of aggravated assault, said a bonding agent at the jail.

According to Mekka Parish, a spokeswoman with the DeKalb County Police Department, witnesses told investigators the 24-year-old server "accidentally bumped" Da Brat as she walked through Studio 72's VIP lounge, and the two "engaged in a little scuffle of some pushing and arguing."

"The waitress walked away, and moments later Da Brat hit her in the face with a rum bottle," said Parish.
