Missy Elliot snuck up on us with a new song [or two] for the Step Up 2 Soundtrack, which is due out this Spring. The track was produced by Swizz Beatz and definitely poppin'. Missy's been chillin' for a minute, so it good to hear new music from her. I hear she's working on a new album with Timbaland...interesting.

Eye Spy: Black Girls Rock!

The Black Girls Rock! Awards were held during the VH1 Hip Hop Honors weekend in NYC hosted by Regina King and Gabrielle Union. Black Girls Rock! Inc. was formed to recognize exceptional women of color. This years winners include Missy Elliot, Common, Chrisette Michele, and Marsha Ambrosius, among others. Friend to the Blog, Emily King also performed!

Love Jennifer, Not lovin' Papoose... I feel like the rhyme was real elementary, but her voice is great and I don't think this is indicative of the album!

Keyshia Cole - Left It Go ft. Missy Elliot & Lil Kim

Amy Winehouse - Rehab [Remix ft. Jay Z & Pharoahe Monch]

Ehhh....I was expecting so much more! Because I love Amy I wanted the track to get a little twist, not enough to take away the original 60's groove, just a slight twist. I don't really like when they put verses on a track and call it a remix...switch it up! I like both the verses, just not enough that I would release it as a single, it just sounds too much like someone's homemade remix...
