Star Jones slams Barbara Walters for claiming in her new autobiography that she and the hosts of "The View" lied for Star to cover up her gastric bypass surgery...

“It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book," Jones told UsMagazine.com. After just past 3 years of marriage, Star Jones has finally gotten the self esteem to leave the fruity goodness of Al Reynolds alone. No surprise here. The odd couple has been rumored to be on the road to splitsville for years now.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Jones, 46, says: "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts."

The statement concludes as follows: "I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

Blah Blah Blah. Ya’ll know that this was doomed from jump. Al and Jonathan Plummer are totally going to be BFFs now.

The Enquirer says that Star Jones is planning to divorce Al and all his suspect-ness. Shocker, I know!

“They hadn’t been seeing eye to eye for months and had already spent a great deal of time apart,” a friend of the couple told the Enquirer. “Finally, Star decided it was over. She told Al at the end of January that he had 30 days to get his act together or ‘get out.’”

“Star is planning to divorce Al.” As for reason behind the split, the source added, “I think Star felt Al had spent their marriage riding her success while she did all the heavy lifting. She resented it. Deep down, Star is a very old-fashioned woman who believes a man should support her emotionally, physically and financially. She now believes Al failed her.” [SOURCE]

Of course her reps are denying the reports…and one thing we know is that there is always some truth to the rumors, it may be pea-sized, but always some…She has been flying solo lately!

Well, the jury is in, or rather the overnight Nielsen numbers are, for Court TV’s debut of “Star Jones.” And the verdict is good for the prosecutor turned TV talk-show host. In its 3 p.m. ET time slot Monday, the premiere attracted some 452,000 total viewers. At first blush that doesn’t look like bragging rights, but remember we’re talking about daytime viewing in the month of August.
Actually, that’s a great number for a daytime premiere airing during the doldrums of August, and it represents substantial growth for the hourlong time period Star now graces. Compared to the prior four weeks for that time slot, total viewers zoomed up by 137 percent. The demos look good too, up 124 percent for adults in the 25-54 demo, and up 105 percent for women 25-54. The key will be if she can sustain the momentum once other daytime shows return from hiatus and the fall seasons begin. I have watched most of the episodes and I think the show is alright. It clearly has to find a good groove, but it's a solid show. One thing that bothers me is that, even though she has lost 2 Nicole Ritchies worth of weight, she still breathes heavy like she's still carrying those pounds...

Star Jones has finally admitted to what we all knew, that she had gastric-bypass surgery to lose weight! We just wanted her to own up to it! You'd have to be smoking the ooh-wee to believe Star dropped 2 Nicole Ritchies worth of weight in such a short period [160 in 3 years to be exact]...The reason? "I was scared..." she writes in Glamour Magazine, but after packing on 75 pounds from lonely eating she went from full-figured to morbidly obese [307 at her heaviest] but decided to have the surgery after a friend became concerned with her health...

"Everything about me was already so public (mostly my own doing talk about dumb!), so of course everyone wanted to know what I had done," she writes. "I was also terrified someone would have a tragic result after emulating me without making an informed decision with her doctor."

"But the complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me," she continues. "I was afraid to be vulnerable, and ashamed at not being able to get myself under control without this procedure." [READ MORE]
